And so that you can see out of one.

But my brother's doctor said he shouldn't do anything that might get a fungus in his eye for a month. I was first told I needed this surgery in August, when I do lots of things involving mulch and mowers that can result in a fungus. I decided to put it off until about the end of September. Wanted to get it in last year because I had already met the insurance deductible for the year.

Then curricane Ian showed up. Blew away my eye doctor's office downtown, among other things.

My red/green colorblindness means I can't tell what color distant daymarks are. When I get close enough that the shape square/triangle comes in focus that is when the color turns on.

Ligted marks at night are more difficult.

Yeah turn HC over to the government, they have done so well with everything they have handled, it’s no wonder they want more

In place of being a "cunt and paste" specialist like others here... I'll just give ya the link. You can infer what you want.

Been to an ER in the US lately?

If you can find an open one?

ERs are not profitable. All the big health care "systems" are closing them wherever they can.
And then they open 'urgent care' centers which can't really do anything, and send you to the ER after a quick look and $100.

Meanwhile, I was the only RN on call last weekend for my non-profit home hospice place. People had to wait hours and hours after their loved one passed because I had a queue of death visits. And I punted some (still living) people who needed help because I was the only person on duty who could pronounce somebody dead call the medical examiner and the funeral home etc.

I don't understand why my home Hospice place is so desperate for nurses. I make more than my colleagues do in the hospital and the job is wholesome and nowhere near the level of stress that the hospital has. My bosses are fantastic and the benefits are as good as anywhere else.

Sadly, it's not just you, there is a serious nursing crisis in America!

Looking big picture, don't think any healthcare system, US/Canada/etc, is close to as good as it could be. The fundamental problem is that societies and governments don't want to accept how much a fully-functioning system would cost as percentage of GDP. We all try to get by with a band-aid approach that works very well in some respects and terribly in others. Fundamentally, health care is paid for by the citizenry, whether through government or private provision and we don't want to pay an extra xx% (pick a number) to pay the cost. In some ways it is a variation on the 'Tragedy of the Commons'.

I have been living in Germany for going on 23 years now and have been super happy with the health care here. It is one of the reasons I would not want to go back to the US.

So back in 2010 I got married to a woman I had been after my whole adult life, for over 20 years we had been friends sometimes a bit more sometimes a bit less...
She was self employed and had had a contract in Texas which turned into a disaster and she lost tons of money, couldn't keep her health insurance. She moved back to San Diego and had an issue, didn't think it would be too bad and she was very afraid to go into debt so she didn't get it looked at. Turned out it was more serious than she knew, We had gotten married 9 weeks before when I was home for a visit and were planning to get her moved here, ended up flying back to make the decision to take her off life support.

She was 43 and otherwise quite healthy.
Here she would have been covered under my insurance until she started working then would have had her own, could have just gone to the doctor of her choice any time.
