You Kiwis might not like to hear this: This Rule in my view definitly opens up the possibility of having that rumored 1 vs 1 Single Challenger Event in Cowes for AC37 only to return to Auckland for a Multi-Challenger for AC38. It is definitly possible.
I'd prefer that than the alternative.

At least that would mean that etnz aren't trying to force the ac75 on a bunch of challengers.

Depends entirely on the NZ Government. If they can't reach a Deal within the next 90 Days it is going to happen I think. Dalts needs some Cash to get another Event in Auckland going and this is probably the best way for him to get it having someone like Sir Jim with deep pockets to fund it.

Of course everyone in NZ will throw Apples at Grant, De Nora if this happens!

They might. I think Dalton would be an idiot to risk it. If they lose the RYS can do what they want, even accept another COR and bye bye Auckland with 250m of infrastructure left rotting.

I'm not so sure. I think a lot of Kiwis could be sold on the idea of an extra challenge, GD would need to lay it all out and sell it hard. Of course, there's always an outside chance ETNZ could lose it in Cowes. That might not go down so well. ;-)

Actually it's just come to me, GD is just playing with us, and getting the best sailing minds in the world right here brainstorming all the possibilities for him, for free, instead of 100 hours of boring meetings  :p

Would explain why they took the Poms as challenger. Prada would be too strong to risk this shit with, the Brits would be a pushover.

POSSIBLE BULLSHIT AHEAD, so don't blame me later.
**** NOT GOING TO HAPPEN, JUST SPECULATION ****

To have your opinion on the matter

Ok, beware, this is fiction, not a rumour. but what if:

UK and NZ decide for a Match very soon, let's say in 1 year, in 2022, in these very boats with minor updates to version 1.5.

Not really a DoG match, but simply one not contemplating a Challenger series in the new mutual agreed protocol. Maybe to be held in UK, if the right bid for the venue is made from Ratcliffe.

In this way, GD can maintain his assets in ETNZ (design and sailing team) and the development of the boat is already there. NZ gains a ton of money from Ratcliffe for this chance and they both plan a subsequent normal AC in NZ (or the UK) 2 years later, in 2024, to maintain the usual scheduling for other subsequent challengers.

In this way, both NZ and the UK will be there with 2.0 boats and an edge compared to other challengers, and GD would have no problems with funding.
Aren't you guys sayng it's going to be possible what I wrote here two days ago? Back then almost everybody (me included) said it was bulshit.

So can you make it a condition of entry that the winner will keep the cup at RNZYS, will defend in AC75s, will defend in Auckland and use ETNZs boat and crew?

I get it that having continuity may attract more new entrants as they know their investment is not a one off... But i don't think it is right to try to direct from the grave.  They should just say it is their intension to continue with the boats.

Question to experts here:

based on "You can't Challenge for AC37 if you don't agree to use the AC75 Class for AC38!"
EB (little bit upset for the rules settled to avoid his shopping into the actual ac75 crew) can say this rule is against the rule you cannot settled anything for a future regata till when the actual one is not finished.
So he will goes to NYC courts to request a DOG, he can make shopping through the crew, he can buy LRPP boat 2 (promising to be COR later in case of win) and he can fuck Ineos and tring it seriously .

Where I'm wrong?

Ratcliffe: Damn Ben, I've put into this fucking campaign twice the budget of the other teams and you screwed it. I've bought you everything you asked me for!

Ben: Sorry Boss, but there is still something you could buy and that will guarantee our presence in the next AC Match.

Ratcliffe: What?

Ben: a 1 - 1 Match against the Kiwis

Ratcliffe: Good idea Ben, and this will cost me way less than funding you to try winning the damn Challengers Selection on your own again!
