I was told today that RQYS sent an email to the Tasmanian owner of the above Melges 32 ordering him to remove the Envy Scooters signage from the boom because the new name of the boat brought the RQYS into disrepute. YCMTSU
Noticed yesterday that the said M32 has a new paint job. No name on the sides. Trump is gone, replaced by advertising for the owner's business. Envy Scooters website gone from the boom. Still sailing under the name Cockwomble which still appears on the transom.

The power of the RQ threatening letter or an opportunity to promote his own business rather than one promoted by the other cockwomble?

So is it true that the Sailing Manager at RQYS reports to the Marina Manager?
Makes sense. They are all boaty stuff. Frees up staff for the more important operations of the Corporation. It is a a big business now not a club remember. Except during a pandemic. Then it becomes a sailing club again that all members should ask what they can do to help. But that is the only questions permitted.

Another success for Australian Sailing in Queensland.

Seems every keelboat club except one is going with AMS.

Already more AMS applications than IRC issued.

And the odd one out has the smallest keelboat fleet anyway.

So sad.

Funny as AMS dominated Melbourne seems to have many clubs seriously toying with ORCc

SYC - and all clubs should - are only accepting endorsed certificates - meaning the boat has been measured by a trained measurer and the inputs of that data come from the measurer - and this extends to having the boats weighed.  AS is trying to suggest that you can self measure your sails in your backyard, submit estimates of your boats dimensions - and whang - you get a ORC club cert.

Royal Frighton wont be using ORCc - neither will ORCV. But ultimately that will be up to the owners.

I think we were also looking only at endorsed certs. Not hard when most boats that will use it already have AMS or IRC certs.

You are wrong about ORCV

ORCV Support for the ORCc Handicap System

Australian Sailing has been actively promoting the ORC Club (ORCc) handicapping system during the past month and this has stimulated discussion within the local clubs.

ORCc system is a relatively cheap (standard price $90p.a.), simplified version of the ORCi rating calculation which is based on a data-intensive Velocity Prediction Program. Based on currently available data, the ORCc handicap performs similarly to the AMS system and perhaps somewhat better than IRC.

The ORCV will support the use of validated ORCc handicaps on a conditional basis. Owners who are interested in racing under ORCc should contact the ORCV office.

ORCc handicaps are available based on "owner declared measurements" supported by "comparable boat" data, or as validated certificates using information supplied by accredited measurers.

In line with other Victorian Clubs, the ORCV has decided that it will introduce an ORCc Handicap Category based on validated ORCc handicaps, including weighed boat, subject to a minimum of 4 starters in that Category. Trophies in such races will include PHS and the two most popular measurement Handicap Categories. Australian Yacht Services have indicated that they will make measurement equipment available to support the required measurement of boats who cannot attend the annual "measurement day" conducted at SYC each year.

In Qld, , it is pretty simple, Australian Sailing have been cunts and pretty much everyone outside one club are going elsewhere.

As are the owners, with the other clubs getting 50 plus boats to events.

The tribe has voted.

Expect the next Gladstone overall prize to be AMS.

Ask not what your club can do for you but what you can do for your club?

Some clubs are looking at other income streams like opening Gyms or medical centres. One club I know would do very well to open a Gynaecology and Proctology clinic because the place is full of cunts and arseholes.
