"The Colonel"

Seen here getting some absolutely killer rides just off Busan, Korea, the latest Norris/White collaboration, "The Colonel", is sure to be a force to be reckoned with. Who wouldn't want to hang out and sail on such an uber-sled?!!

The yacht's very, very clever theme, of course, is a play on the wildly successful TV show from the '70, "Hogan's Heros", and who didn't love that zanny romp, eh? I mean that show had everything, from really cool Mercedes staff cars, to wild capers "off campus" winning the war almost single handed every week, to a smokin' hot secretary, Hilda.....hey, hey, hey fellas, she'll never drown, knowwhatImean!

The yacht's native Korean owner, when asked about the unusual logo on all of his spinnakers, simply remarked that "he doesn't get out much", but later went on to elaborate that if it's one thing he can't stand, it's political correctness. The interviewer, who works for a TV station in Seoul, an affiliate of Fox, simply nodded knowingly.

So, we'll be looking forward to seeing this "world beater" blitzing it's way through grand prix events all over the world in 2011. The first stop in the new schedule is at a dazzling new venue, just upgraded to accomodate an event of this scope, the Elat Hayam Yacht Club in Jaffa, just outside Tel Aviv. The eastern Med is just perfect that time of year and what better venue for "The Colonel" to debut! Sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Then of course it's off to the States for the annual New York City Lag B'Omer Annual Regatta on 22 May which sports the largest spectator fleets in North America. Can't wait to see the expression on their faces when "The Colonel" pops their Code 1 in full regalia! Not a dry eye in the house!

I would have put the swastika a little higher on the spinnaker. Seems silly to have it so low. That is an expensive kite to not have it look right.

Hogan's Heros was a great show, glad that someone can bring back the memory and remember that there was a time that we could have humor about the subject.

I was wondering about that. I would have gone straight back to the sailmaker with that kite. I mean seriously, if you're going to go through all the trouble of such a beautiful Hogan's Hero's tribute, I would think you'd want the graphics to be perfect. Silly Koreans.
