Dog steps on trigger of rifle, shoots man dead, Kansas sheriff says

A dog stepped on a loaded rifle, fatally shooting a passenger in his owner’s car during a hunting trip in Geuda Springs, Kan., sheriff’s deputies said.

Joseph Austin Smith, 30, of Wichita was sitting in the front passenger seat of a pickup truck when he was shot in the back, the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

“The back seat contained hunting gear and a rifle,” the statement said. “A canine belonging to the owner of the pickup stepped on the rifle causing the weapon to discharge. The fired round struck the passenger who died of his injuries on scene.”
....
"Saturday’s shooting is not the first involving a dog and a loaded weapon."

My question: which militia does the dog belong to? Does the passenger get a Darwin if killed by somebody ELSE'S dog?

No.. you were asking which was the most suitable militia weapon.

As I have said before, if called for militia service, to resist a nincomcoup for example, I would prefer to have badlat's SCAR 17 over my wife's battlefield .22 and would take either over something constitutionally protected like Dick Heller's 9 round .22 revolver.
Hmm... Maybe if I frame your post as a reply to the one showing the context you will notice it this time around?

Just because you think circumstances have somehow repealed the second amendment doesn't make it so. Ignoring it endangers the rest. If you want it repealed just say so, don't pretend it has happened.

Nevertheless, states have been steadily loosening their gun control laws under pressure from conservatives, who feel that a Democratic president is more likely to start confiscating weapons despite no evidence to support the assertion.
Hah!

Another person who was apparently deaf to the roar of the crowd when Beto said the quiet part about battlefield .22's loud and clear.

Does pink or silver exude more model behavior in an assault weapon?

My hypothetical question just became very real! When my wife was picking up her new (non-battlefield) .22 at the store, she ordered a SW22 Victory for me. Well, let me rephrase that. I definitely did NOT tell her to do this, except maybe as a joke. That would be a straw purchase that could land us both in the clink. She ordered a SW22 Victory as a gift for me. That's totally legal. She even wrapped it.

I'm going to take it to a customization shop in Sarasota and have them order a couple more thread protectors for floral arrangements. Also want to get rid of the scary black plastic grips.

I hope to use this assault weapon to repair the public image of assault weapons. They're not all scary looking rifles. Some are .22 pistols that can be made to look very non-scary despite their battlefield nature.

The NRA Has Lost More Than a Million Members

The Reload: Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre told attendees at the gun-rights group’s most recent board meeting that the organization is down to 4.3 million members… That represents a downturn of more than a million members since allegations of financial impropriety were leveled against LaPierre and other members of NRA leadership in 2019.

The NRA is now smaller than it has been since 2012 when internal documents show the group had 4 million members.

The two magazines that came with my new battlefield .22 hold 10 rounds, so non-military, but I have ordered a couple of 11 round magazines. Those are suitable for militia use according to the House of Representatives.

Illinois disagrees, as noted above, exempting anything .22 from their ban.

So just what did they ban?

A judge wants a non-bullshit answer.

...
In the Southern District of Illinois, four cases are pending. One is from the Federal Firearms Licensees of Illinois. Plaintiffs in that case filed a motion for preliminary injunction last week.

In three other cases, federal Judge Stephen McGlynn ordered state defendants to provide “illustrative examples of each and every item banned” under state law.

Thomas Maag, who brought the state level Crawford County case that was transferred to federal court, said the judge's order will make it difficult for the state to comply.

“Because the ban is so all encompassing and uses a great many vague terms that I’m not even sure that exactly what is banned and that’s probably why judge McGlynn ordered the state to do that so that we could find out what exactly we are arguing about,” Maag told The Center Square on Monday.
...

It's going to get good when he starts examining why some tools are banned and others, which appear equally suitable for militia use, are not.
