I don't really need one for wildlife, I needed one to help repair the public image of assault weapons. They're not all scary and black, you know.

Before I take my new assault weapon to the customization shop, can I get your input on which is less scary? The silver flower or the pink one?

Top Guns of 20Dogballs

People love those Sig handguns.

There are many versions of the Ruger 10/22, only some of which are battlefield .22's. As mentioned above, my wife decided to get a civilian one, pictured here to the left of her militia weapon.

The new one is lighter and has a better barrel and trigger. Or so they say. It also has a better bolt release if you find the factory one weird, which I do.

That's a 2023 purchase and it'll probably be in fifth place or so again when the results come out next year.

B.) We can remove the objects that inflict bullet wounds.

I think B.) is a much faster path to the short-term goal. However, I am not a pie-in-the -sky optimist and I know full fucking well that with the degree of gun-love in the USA, that's not going to happen in my lifetime. The slaughter will just continue.

I sincerely hope that you're right and we don't launch another expensive, counterproductive prohibition program. They just fail and fail, causing authoritarians to flail and flail, with lots of collateral damage to liberties but very, very little in the way of accomplishing stated goals.

Which is why I say to concentrate on those firearm types that are capable of inflicting the most casualties with the least amount of training. Even there I think you're pushing shit uphill but it's worth trying and the argument can be clearly articulated as to why. The big problem with a lot of the anti-gun arguments is, they're generically anti-gun and the people making the arguments are frankly ignorant idiots which allows people like Tendentious Tom to moan endlessly about 22LR 'assault rifles' - and he's quite correct in what he says.

Terminology is important. They're not assault RIFLES, they're assault WEAPONS and that definitely includes battlefield .22 handguns like my new one and my wife's.

Converting my new battlefield .22's magazines to military 11 round versions and plan to try them out today.

They're black and scary, which defeats my purpose of making assault weapons seem more friendly and cuddly. I'm wondering if a 3D printer could turn out something similar but in a pink and purple camo pattern?

Colorado Assault Weapons Ban Proposal

...
"ASSAULT WEAPON" DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY FIREARM THAT HAS BEEN MADE PERMANENTLY INOPERABLE ; AN ANTIQUE FIREARM MANUFACTURED BEFORE 1899; A REPLICA OF AN ANTIQUE FIREARM; A FIREARM THAT IS MANUALLY OPERATED BY BOLT, PUMP, LEVER, SLIDE ACTION, UNLESS THE FIREARM IS A SHOTGUN WITH A REVOLVING CYLINDER; OR A FIREARM THAT CAN ONLY FIRE RIMFIRE AMMUNITION.
...

They don't seem to think that battlefield .22's are suitable militia weapons, so that's weird.

Paging @Pertinacious Tom for an explanation/critique of the above.

I agree that there are statisticians who can build anything from numbers with the awesome power of assumptions and dreamers who will believe highly implausible stories that are suggested to them.

I don't believe that banning new sales of a few rarely-used weapons had anything to do with whatever uncited numbers some fool is playing with.

In any case, that ban didn't cover battlefield .22's so had no real chance of getting at the guns that are causing all the problems.

The battlefield extensions don't work and the pic shows why. That little plastic rectangle on the lower mag is how the guns magazine disconnect safety is disabled when a compatible mag is inserted.

Now I really need a 3D printed one so it can be pink and have a little block on it. Meanwhile, I'm going to try sculpting something out of Marine Tex just to be ready in case of a militia muster.

I am kind curious if Katie Porter ends up re-submitting Feinsteins' bill every year. I tend to doubt it. That might change the dynamic a bit. The .22 is really the fulcrum of the 'culture of' vs 'weapon' arguements.

Someone will do the honors and there will be the same companion bill in the House that passed before.

H.R.1808 - Assault Weapons Ban of 2022, passed by the House 7/29/22.

I don't see any change of dynamic at all. The popular response to any suggestion that battlefield .22's should not be banned can be summarized in a word: dogballs. They're not hearing it, period.

I hear ya. We’re in the realm of beliefs now eh…
Well, yes. I believe the cartoon you posted is just some fool playing with numbers and has nothing to do with the awesome effectiveness of the late and unlamented assault weapon ban.

What do you believe? Do you believe we're looking at stats composed by a person who might just think that a lone man shooting himself on real estate that was once a school is a School Shooting? That's how these silly games are played.

Let's see the source, the definition of "mass shooting," the time periods being examined, just generally what games are being played to pretend that banning a few sales of a few rarely used guns had such a massive impact.
