If I understand this issue, it's not about transvestites (cross-dressers), but about trangendered--folks who have transitioned or are in the process of transitioning. There's a difference in that transgendered individuals have had hormone therapy and often surgery to effect the change. The effects of such medical interventions is that the body of the person actually changes (especially in younger persons).

I get that it's ridiculous we are discussing this and from the tiny trans community the number of athletes are going to be miniscule as compared to the norm.
The thing is it's already affecting the women who are competing. Unless evidence based rules are in place this topic is going to blow up and become a huge RW talking point as soon as the Olympics are over. Just in time for the midterms Laurel Hubbard is going to win loads of gold.
Hundreds of high school boys break the women's top Olympic records every year. The lungs and hearts are bigger, bigger and stronger bone, muscle masses, body structure, testosterone etc all contribute and once developed always give an edge. Hone that to perfection to compete internationally and once past your prime change genders and compete as a woman. That is essentially what Laurel Hubbard is doing.
The Laurel Hubbard situation is ridiculous and not really likely to be repeated soon but currently is pushing women off the podium and team.
I do not hold with stereotypical gender roles and am comfortable with LGBQTs in every walk of life but I do not think a professional weight lifter who competed till 35 as a male should be allowed to switch classes because he now identifies as female.

Nope Laurel Hubbard (formerly Gavin Hubbard) an international level NZ male weightlifter who after he was 35 years old transitioned to female. Now 42-43 years old years old represents NZ and has been breaking women's records since 2017. Soon going to win gold at Tokyo Olympics.
So, is that an Olympic issue, or a Weightlifting assn issue? I read a bit, the Weightlifting assn just defines those who can compete in the woman's class by testing for a lack of a certain level of testosterone. Maybe that's not the best requirement as a lifetime of testosterone will build a larger frame than not. So why won't the Weightlifting assn deal with it?

Weightlifting, Olympics the RWM is going to go ludicrous with this one once that gold is won.
Well, yeah, but why not hold accountable those that should be accountable, the organizing authority for that sport?

Hormone replacement therapy that trans women go through has the effect of reducing the impacts of as well as the levels of testosterone. I don’t profess to be an expert on this subject but it certainly bears more consideration than just men are stronger than women. Especially considering trans women aren’t biologically men; that’s kinda the whole point
