Sailor weights and some analysis have been published on the event site http://www.dosc.ae/moth-news/ - credit and copyright to Stefanie Schurer
I cannost post images here but the extract scatter diagram for Mach 2 sailors is revealing. Bora is clearly an outlier weight size amongst the top riders as the only rider in the top 25 who is heavier than about 77kg, his weight being around 85kg. In fact Bora is one of the heaviest riders at the whole event. In this regatta most of the top riders come in around 74kg-77kg with Payne being an outlier at 69kg.
Thanks for the awesome coverage of the event. I was lucky enough to spend Day 2 on one of the support boats, and a couple of the others spectating from the water. The rest - you guys filled in with the live stuff, the interviews, and Mer's superb photography.
It is remarkable what can be done when you combine a carload of equipment, a 3.5g data card, and a whole lot of ingenuity and enthusiasm. This has to be future of sports broadcasting and reporting - especially for so called 'fringe' sports - with a global following.
Take the rest of the week off, and remember - there will always be a pint of the cold stuff on the bar in DOSC for your return
Cheers Robert. Great to meet you and loved getting the chance to interview someone who has been brought into this sport because of the kind of fun new boats that we embrace here at SA.
It's been captivating to follow the Moth action from another continent. The broad mix of forum updates, live broadcast, recorded clips, and Mer's photography really made the coverage accessible to many readers under many different circumstances, ranging from office without audio to home-computer with Dolby surround.
OTWA is the next best thing after being there on the water yourself!
