So I listened to all the opening remarks by VP Pence and the Senate and to a lesser degree the House and am most impressed by their remarks reaffirming my faith in our Congress, our country and democracy.  What I saw was Trump's attempts to burn it down have largely extinguished the fires on the floor.

Cruz and Hawley left holding their little dicks.   This sums up Sen. Romney's speech

I'm looking forward to the GOP pretending that today's events have deeply affected them.
I've been watching the senate speeches for 3 hours.

Vote finished 6 votes for the objection.

Loeffler withdrew but still tried to pander to Trump's base.  Whoever from Missouri was just tone deaf.

I didn't see all,  but the best gop speech was Romney. Basically the gopers need to tell the truth. Get out there and tell the truth

I can't stand Lindsay Graham but he was strong as well.

The tone overall was bipartisan with the exception ofspecial pleading grumbling from the seditious six.

Trump is absolutely fucked, now and for the rest of his life. The anger is palpable on both sides.

My gut feel is Trump completely lost the plot in his video request for peace while still claiming the election was stolen.

These senators need to stay true to their responses. I highly recommend anyone spend a few hours watching the senate proceedings.

Nothing has changed with the GOP. They don't give a shit about the citizens of this country. Tomorrow they'll get up and start the whole process again. They'll appeal to the Dems to let bygones be bygones and move forward, together, for a bright shiny future of bipartisan cooperation. How nice. All the while they will be looking to the next election to fuck each and every one of us over again. Trump actually just did the GOP a big favor by giving them a great excuse to denounce him and act like they are appalled at what is going on. They may go alone with a 25th or another impeachment to shake off the stench of Trump, but come tomorrow they'll be back to their old tricks again. It's in their DNA. It's who they are. Don't fall for their bullshit.

Fuck Trump, fuck Trump supporters, and fuck the traitorous, lying GOP.

Miss Lindsey acting like announcing Biden "is the legitimate president" was an act of courage on his part.  Real backbone implant he got this afternoon.

It looks like the bitch needs some more time over the coals, she ain't done quite yet....

State GOP parties are censuring those who voted for impeachment and other similar crimes against the party.  Instead of addressing their issues and flaws - as most parties do after they lose national elections - they are doubling down on the stupid.

Anyone got a blowtorch?
In today's 'Merika, that seems to be a pretty good strategy. One could say that on the whole, the Trumplitards did pretty well in the election, picking up House seats and almost holding onto the Senate. Did pretty well in the states as well, holding on to the gerrymander for another 10 years across many the states. Seems the only Republican who didn't do well was the headliner, and that because it was just too damn hard to look at the dead and dying of covid and not place blame where it was due. All the dumbass had to do was be honest with the 'Merikans, give resources to the right folks and step out of the way. If he could have just stopped grifting for about 9 months, he would've got another 4 years, easy.
