how are the daggerboard boats comin' along?
Clack, clack, clack...Le Cam rules.
Good question.
Bellion is already putting in proper foils so he can match Boris and Kevin.
Le Cam is still hoping he will be the only finisher.
PM.
Actually Bellion was going to launch this month.
Huey or yl75 will be along shortly for the facts.
IIRC in the last video on the "Imoca MACIF - Santé Prévoyance" they mentioned "June".Any news on when Charlie Dalin's new Imoca will be launched..??
I have a lot of sympathy for Le Cam, but I think you shouldn't judge the foilers based on performance during the past Vendee or any race before 2023. The Ocean race and recent Guyader showed that the new foilers are way faster, even straight out of the yard. Even if sailed at 20% below potential/ recent performance due less crew, unless there are damages, they should be in a different world compared to the non-foilers.Do you think that Le Cam's non foiling scow is a wrong choice?
I dont. I think that's a good idea. Foilers showed to be just a little faster than non foilers in a round the world race. Scows - even if not full ones due to the ban - will be faster than 'traditional' boats.
Class 40 - no foils but scow - showed to be much faster than many IMOCAs in the last Route du Rum. A 60 foot scow-ish could be very fast. Dont you think?
Read the introduction lines of the Bidégorry's interview that I shared above.Any news on when Charlie Dalin's new Imoca will be launched..??
That is true, IMOCAs are doing fine in the Ocean Race.I have a lot of sympathy for Le Cam, but I think you shouldn't judge the foilers based on performance during the past Vendee or any race before 2023. However the Guyader course was suited, even modified to suit, the foilers. RTW there are fewer constraints on course, so there will be more routing options. Last time round Le Cam was able to sail a far shorter course. To some extent the foilers will be able to choose their weather, but will have to sail the extra miles. Last race Vendee was characterised by atypical weather... but what is typical these days?I have a lot of sympathy for Le Cam, but I think you shouldn't judge the foilers based on performance during the past Vendee or any race before 2023. The Ocean race and recent Guyader showed that the new foilers are way faster, even straight out of the yard.
