The November 2022 election

Will sail for food

From the AP: State Elections Director Kori Lorick wrote in a letter last week that Hobbs is required by law to approve the statewide canvass by next week and will have to exclude Cochise County’s votes if they aren’t received in time.

That would threaten to flip the victor in at least two close races — a U.S. House seat and state schools chief — from a Republican to a Democrat.

Works for me.
Another version of "Fuck around and find out."

Of course it does. I thought the mantra was count every vote?

I’d love it if the anti-democratic policies of the GOP cost them the house.

I don't think the math works for that, only a couple of seats. With a majority of less than 6 or 7, losing a couple almost doesn't matter. McCarthy is going to mightily wish he were not Speaker (and if he doesnn't get it, whoever fills the seat) by mid-January.

Like Gingrich, the only thing McCarthy wants is to be Speaker. Governance, the work, that's the last thing on his mind. I don't know who their #2 is but it would be most amusing to see McCarthy get this close and still lose.

It's happened before.

Thing is this is the trial run, if there are no consequences to their treason then in the next election multiple counties will refuse certification and manipulate who wins.
This time it's gonna favor the D's, if they take it and the blowback and legal consequences are close to nil next time it'll be massive and there will be no recourse when the elections are really stolen.

WTF They already won the house and the majority of the senate races, in case you missed that tidbit.
A seat here, a defector switching parties there…. Stranger things have happened. Stupid games win stupid prizes

Not all Republicans are in favor of getting rid of democracy.

They’re not all in favor of ending democracy. They’re just in favor of Republicans who are ok with ending democracy … because Hillary.

The three lions are Mega MAGA, the Old Guard and the MAGA Adjacent. I estimate each are about 30 percent of the party’s voters and are numerous in virtually every state. The minnow is the Never Trump group, which constitutes about 10 percent of GOP voters. They are strongest in wealthy suburbs and major metropolitan areas such as New York and D.C.
