Well after my brief stop for tapas early in the "cruise in company", i've now decide a (quick?) tour of the Canary isles is in order ... aka wasn't going to catch up following the leader.

Looks like i still won't by going this way either.
Looking forward to viewing the island's beaches and cliffs, will try to not get sucked in for a 'stay' tho'!

This leg has been active lots of changes. One boat Sapphire Girl - SPA I marked equal and was close but way back is at 500 and looking back at you mom. If only I did not over stand in the med that night… these boats seem to give you a chance to come back after a problem! And the real boats are still close?

Hello, I have a bit more time this morning. Apologies to Breitling - no idea where you went on my list, also apologies to Mad/Sticky, I didn't scroll down far enough yesterday😜

The big mover today has been HelloKitty-Iceland who appears to have been sailing slow angles through the islands and has lost five places. For those on port gybe heading south there seems to be better pressure in towards the African continent, although that may be compromised by a better angle further west.

Viper seems to be attached to Your Mom with Shockwave a very close third. I have about 48 hours to go. Nailing the gybe by the western tip of Africa will be key to setting up for a fast angle to the finish. Enjoy.

This is killing me... I was leading after Gibraltar. It all came down to when to gybe through the Canaries. I went with the West option and was wrong. I'll be lucky to finish in the top 200. That's the nature of these events, but it's still a real bummer after thinking a couple days ago that I was in great shape for a potential win.

On to leg 2...

Hello, doing this at home from my phone. Not sorted. Most people should be finished this time tomorrow. Hopefully the south pays for the mid fleet.

My result:
5d 23h 50m 56s
2184.9nm
717th

After my early grounding for 90+min, I'd made up some distance to the fleet, before attempted lets see what happens by heading to African coast before the Canary's., didn't work tho., think i lost time overall.

Anyway, just under 1hr behind YourMum, so not a bad outcome considering!

cheers to TR for throwing the status (results?) table up on the thread (y)

Good morning boys and girls,

Firstly here are the final results from the first leg. Some very close results, JeSa sneaking ahead of kea.nn SA by 36 secs seems to be the smallest separation. Hats off to Mom, Shockwave and Viper who were a step ahead of the rest.

For the overall result I am planning a low point scoring system with no drops. Any objections will be dealt with by the PR Department.

Hello,

On to Leg 2. A quick piece of info is that I am only dealing with IMOCAs, if someone else wants to play with the 65s, please feel free.

Leg 2 has seen a few old faces dragging their arses off the sofa and out to play - welcome.

The initial rankings mean very little, apart from where everyone is setting up to try and cross the equator. I have shelled out for the Full Pack, which means I have high hopes, but low expectations! I'm aiming for a point in the western S Atlantic, I've seen too many horror stories of the coast of Africa, light head winds are not fun.

Any way, here are the current rankings, bring it on!

BTW, if any knows how to turn auto sails off, or prod it into changing to a better sail, please let me know, I'm stuck on Code 0, while Light Gennaker would be faster........ Hmmmmm!

EDIT, OK, it finally changed, but quite a while after optimal!
