Yeah I had the same thoughts at the same point but decided to try it based on how GFS deals with forecasting near land… ie not being terribly good. That can go either way, so it was definitely a gamble. As of a couple of days ago, it looked like I might have been able to find a lane of pressure through the high, but that is no longer the case.I feel for you @eliboat... nearly did the same way back in the beginning when i screwed up my routing settings....
but after several hours of , yeah lets try this east track for a flyer... i sorta came to my senses and went west.
my track is orange brushing the south islands, yours red, viper white, shockwave yellow,JeSa blue.
I even managed to sorta 'catchup' after the several hours lost - a week later.

Does look like far west group of JeSa, shockwave, et al will just pip the inner west corner cut i'm on. Looks like they're going to be in more pressure for longer.
