I feel for you @eliboat... nearly did the same way back in the beginning when i screwed up my routing settings....
but after several hours of , yeah lets try this east track for a flyer... i sorta came to my senses and went west.
my track is orange brushing the south islands, yours red, viper white, shockwave yellow,JeSa blue.
I even managed to sorta 'catchup' after the several hours lost - a week later.

Does look like far west group of JeSa, shockwave, et al will just pip the inner west corner cut i'm on. Looks like they're going to be in more pressure for longer.
Yeah I had the same thoughts at the same point but decided to try it based on how GFS deals with forecasting near land… ie not being terribly good. That can go either way, so it was definitely a gamble. As of a couple of days ago, it looked like I might have been able to find a lane of pressure through the high, but that is no longer the case.

Good morning,

Hoople is finally accepting reality - as predicted by @DRIFTW00D a week and a half ago!

I agree that the southerners (led by Shockwave) are likely to beat the short cutters (led by Viper).

Some big changes have occurred in the rankings with SailingMyCubicle winning the largest mover prize going from 2nd to 18th in 24hrs.

The timing of the gybe coming up in about 12 hours will determine your lane to near land.

An automatic sail change that shouldn´t have happened while I was at work... I´ve lost pace and stamina :(
you were two degrees off CO in boost mode and into the HG. the limit was 136twa you were at 138 which forced the HG. as your mom mentioned in an earlier post there is a 1.4% transition allowance between sails at certain wind strengths. you weren't the only one in our pack that this happened to.

It’s not as if I didn’t see things playing out. Not an acceptance of reality. I had made my choice to go east long ago, and I had no realistic chance to head west and be in an even worse situation.

Yes, I know it was my bad. I´ve been playing with that boost margin since Mom told about it. I ususally can close monitor the game but today I had to leave it alone for a few hours and the disaster happened. I think it has changed sail more than once because when I realized my energy level was at 25.

When playing with top tier gamers every small error is a big lose. Now it will be very hard to catch you again.

yes you did the dreaded double sail change. CO to HG then to LG. this is a compounding speed killer. every maneuver is slower compared to the competition that avoided this double change (until you can recover to 100 stamina or at least equal stamina of your closest competition). knowing the polars and avoiding a sail change to the maximum limit of the 1.4% is a big component of the game.
If I’m away from the dashboard during turbo mode I’ll sometimes turn autosail off and take a slight speed hit temporarily to avoid the autosail change, or I’ll change course a few degrees to get out of the 1.4% tolerance between sails, depending on the situation. The app on the phone U/I is not accurate enough to be successful at turbo mode.

you are sailing well though

Good afternoon,

Not too many changes, the southerners have gybed, without massive changes in positionings or placings.

Generally, there is more wind to the south, but how to balance that against extra distance sailed?

I woke to 3% stamina which probably slowed me horribly...... oh well.

Hoople's lead has been cut - he has held on much longer than I expected. If I had to place a bet now it would be on shockwave. He has always been in the right place and hasn't made a mistake so far.

Good morning,

Hoople has finally been caught, Shockwave is on top, by the skin of his teeth. 21Nm between the top 8 with a lot of serious players in the mix. I am fairly certain the winner will come from this group.

As Mom pointed out, the forecast is giving winds below 5kts on the approach to Cape Town, this will open passing lanes. A fun three days coming up!

Really confused, I don´t know why this difference between Zezo and Virtual Regatta

Ah - you're talking about Dashboard, not Zezo. I was confused there.

I'm not sure how Dashboard or VR calculate DTF. I think Dashboard is straight-line to the next mark, whereas VR uses some other approach that I've never understood. Honestly, I don't look at either very much. DTF doesn't matter until it's zero.
