HOLCIM-PRB seems to have some kind of turbo-boost in their Boat. They are romping now at 20 Knots and more importantly furthest South which will become very avantageous over the next few Days.

Any recent news regarding 11th hours rudders ?
Is it just the current "mild" weather that allow them to "forget" about it ?

If the windy forecast is to be trusted, those guys could stay on the same tack, at least all the way to the Northern tip of the Ice Exclusion Zone. That is quite a long ride on port tack...

An even more importantly, directly in front of 11th-Hour, their closest rival.

Next leg a bit concerning when Goodchild returns for the relaunch of the former LinkedOut.

In the wild.
Check the "content from the boats" on the TOR site. Lots of rudder amd mainsail repair images there.
Thanks for the link, Mongrel.

Here, for us lazy and mental types:

I think the broken is on the port side and largely out of the water. I think once they get to go south east (on the other side of the ice exclusion zone) it will be given an almighty test.

Looks like they will get some proper southern ocean weather around the horn.

I made it to a minute and five seconds.

See, this is why a sextant test and, oh, 18,000 miles of use should be mandatory before you're qualified to call yourself an ocean racer. All this GPS use is making some people stupid.
All this GPS use is making some people stupid..?????

You can't be serious.! Because it's a brilliant technology it will make you stupid.?

I suspect Kevin has got this well-covered; Sam mentioned that this eventuality was known from the outset and Kevin has stated he has experienced sailors at the ready. He has Fabian Delharte as a standby substitute. It would be fun though if he brought on Jeremy Beyou, Charles Caudralier (though he's been living the high life on standby on Gitana) or Pascal B. Wonder if Tom LaPersche will take a leg off.

All of a sudden 11th Hour have appeared right alongside Holcim and going faster.? And this happened after the last update. It's like the boats have sweet spots with their design, sail choice and or conditions and 11th Hour have suddenly found theirs. Having said that I think Holcim are still the fastest boat in the fleet most of the time.

Win it? Of course you do.
Circumnavigation? Nope

So, in extremis, in the first leg you vomit all over the bunks, maybe even go over the side, and in Cape Town you go straight back to your mum's basement.
And when they eventually win the race, you triumficaly declare you won the race.
Or you just join for the last leg, come second in that leg, and you then just won the race, on points?
Sure, there are different shades of gray, but for me it's all or nothing, simply.
