The broken J3 halyard lock on Holcim is the same brand as the broken J2 swivel on the last leg. Kevin is not amused.

Does Biotherm use the same brand on the J3? Theirs broke earlier in the leg.
Lots of problems for them this leg. Fell behind, broken J3 lock, broken autopilot, broken wind vane, rudder issues - an then also a broken shroud.
No current media from Biotherm. We'll see if they do a technical stop ASAP or press on with the broken shroud.

Holcim PRB is in fact having technical issues. On today's Race Report, Kevin stated that "the J3 lock broke" and "the mast is not holding without the J3 even with fractional sails".
Serious sh*t. I hope they can set an additional stay to keep their spar up.

Team Malizia seems to have gained another 10 nm on HPRB in this schedule.

Biotherm wil take 9 days or so to get to Aarhus with 10 kts speed. I am not sure if they have enough food for that. Probably not.

More likely that 11th Hour Racing Team has now cleared all of the South Norway Exclusion Zones and are free where they want to go.

edit: Yup, I was right! They have cleared all the TSS Zones and now screaming towards the northern tip of Denmark.
Umm, nope, not right. As of 1800UTC update they still have 2 more zones to pass, and they are not around the corner yet:

I was speaking about the South Norway TSS Zones you dumbass not the Small Skagen TSS Zones.
Sorry dumber ass, I was responding to what you wrote:

They were neither "free to go where they want" nor had they "cleared all the TSS zones"

@Herman
You gotta feel for Kevin. He largely got unscathed out of the big Southern Ocean Leg only to get dismasted on Leg 4 and now this problem in Leg 5.
They have the Speed to match 11th Hour.

Silver Lining for Holcim is if they somehow manage to get 2nd Place they will be only 1 Point behind with 2 Legs to go.

Unless Holcim has another big Problem I actually feel quite good about their Position holding onto 2nd! They actually have extended over Team Malizia to now 20 Nautical Miles.

The halyard lock has been replaced with the similar brand according to the video. Kevin gnarls his teeth and I’m pretty sure that at the VG he will have another brand in the mast.
Hopefully his shore team will have sourced pieces for the next leg from the same company Boris did for this leg. This really sucks for Holcim PRB, to end up like this for these reasons. The manufacturer and designer should be concerned.
