A german publication seems to indicate that the alleged incident involved a woman during the stop in Newport. At this point, this is rumours and allegations of course. Nasty as always.
Does he also race Etchells?

where's it at?

The background for his resignation is the accusation of a female employee of Team Holcim PRB, according to which the skipper is said to have harassed her in Newport. This was confirmed independently by several sources to YACHT.

However, according to the information available to us, there is neither a formal charge nor an investigation. Therefore, the presumption of innocence applies to Kevin Escoffier, who with his resignation has taken the growing pressure off the team as well as The Ocean Race management, which had not communicated the issue publicly until now.

I must be too old to really like her style, or that of the team for that matter, but love to take the piss of the sick fanboys here. And this is SA, not Sailing Nicey Nice.
Besides, I have earned the right to be critical, the hard way.
And you in Stuttgart, Zugvogel sailor?
I have been (wind) surfing through the internet since 1998. So I have earned the right to be critical, the easy way.
That‘s the only argument that cunt.

Always love a good "going forward." The saves confusion in case they were considering going backwards in time.

But hey, poor old Kev must have been busting for a root after all that time at sea, being stressed out and all. Maybe he should have just had a good old wank and left other people alone.

Kevin's incident to be investigated by the French Ministry of Sports and the French Sailing Federation. The incident being "inappropriate behaviour" towards a woman in a party in Newport. Are we going to far these days?? Anyhow, good to bring some light into this. Hope it gets dismissed.

One day after his withdrawal from Holcim-PRB on The Ocean Race, Malouin Kevin Escoffier will be reported to the Ministry of Sports, reveals the president of the FFVoile, Jean-Luc Denéchau.

As president of the FFVoile, we imagine that you are aware of the incident that occurred in Newport during the stopover of The Ocean Race?
I learned about all this last night and I admit to being surprised by the dissonance between the press release from Team Holcim-PRB and the message on Kevin Escoffier's Instagram account which spoke of an alleged incident. I have therefore made a number of phone calls which lead me to believe that the alleged incident referred to by the skipper is in fact inappropriate behavior he allegedly exhibited towards a young woman at a party in Newport.

What are you planning to do ?
These facts that have been reported to me justify that as of tomorrow, Monday, I will ask my services to make a report to the Ministry of Sports. At the federation, we have a cell for this, we have a disciplinary commission which can be brought to judge all the facts which are in contradiction with our regulations. This concerns all licensees. I will therefore relate the facts of which I have knowledge by testimonies.

What will happen next?
I also reserve the right to take precautionary measures and/or to open disciplinary proceedings according to the tangible evidence that can be sent to me. If these facts were to be proven, these are behaviors that cannot be tolerated, they have no place in our federation. It is my duty as president to act with the greatest firmness in the face of this type of situation, which is very unpleasant.

The alleged incident did not take place in the race but at a party...
This remains to be determined, it is still unclear. It happened during the stopover, during a party. But, in his behavior, the athlete or licensee must protect the image of his sport. In addition, I heard that the World Sailing (Editor's note: international sailing federation) would have been seized but I am not sure. For the moment, I have no precise information from World Sailing.

While the facts are unknown at this point, if the "inappropriate behavior" was exhibited was sexual in nature and non-consensual, it could have constituted sexual harassment or sexual assault (unwanted touching); it allegedly was done by a boss to his employee, which is for obvious reasons unacceptable behavior that would and should have consequences. There is the "power imbalance" for one thing. It also permeates the business/team. That is why a State governor, top TV news anchors, movie studio heads, in the US etc. are getting fired.

WOW.

This is quite a story.
With just a one point gap to 11th in first place this is quite a setback for PRB with 10 points left on the table.

Obviously timelines are insane, as this was probably reported/investigated too close to the leg5 start from Newport itself. the communication is TERRIBLE in this regard, they've had time to do that properly.

outcomes?
*storm in a teacup - KE loses out big time both in this race, reputation and professionally going forward
*inconclusive - he said/she said see above
*guilty - very messy

Firstly, the French have not been 'on board' with the Me Too thing, the culture is not like that.

Secondly, WFT? These are not Etchells!

If this is all true Kevin's career is done. Dare say Kev was drinking at the time, drank too much and acted inappropriately towards a girl, or worse acted unlawfully.! So poor Kev spent too much time at sea? Or was it a case of alcohol or was it part of Kev's makeup. Considering what happened when he was rescued by Jean L-cam, built a new boat and was going forward with his campaign nicely. Sounds like he has had a brain melt down on an alcohol fueled night. I am of the belief he was was drinking, not sure of any 1st hand accounts of his state when this went down?

Don‘t

get your point about TM. What happened?
I think Malizia have gone off the boil lately, crew work, tactics, boat speed issues not sure what is the cause but I can't see them doing well in the ocean leg in 3 days time IMO. I hope I'm wrong.

Wait, what ? Are you saying that KE is the victim here ? Alcohol is not an excuse.

Meanwhile, the female employee probably already lost her career prospects and personal reputation.

Always impressed by the experts in French culture... :)
The me too thing was a thing in France too, in fact several French actress were accusing Weinstein, and rhe French version of the hashtag was "#balancetonporc" (report your pig,, or snitch your pig).

But true that the culture is different, as to Kevin, hope it isn't too serious, but for him to get out of the whole race I'm afraid it might be.

If it was anything major a lot more people need to have a problem.
After all -according to reporting- what happened was well known in Newport. At minimum the Holcim-PRB team and the TOR organization knew. It is not entirely clear if other teams also knew as well, but since it was a party that is more likely than not.
