Seems there was a bit of a debate about The Voice on Q&A last night. If I can find some time later today to watch it I will.

mmm...seems this one was hosted by Stan Grant. Having 2nd thoughts but might just have to grin and bear it. Anyone watch it last night?

I see a lot of similarities between Albo and Howard in their handling of referendums.

Both engineered the campaigns to ensure the referendum fails.

Howard played it smart splitting the yes voter camp ensuring a no, whilst the lack of leadership and details causing confusion, misunderstanding and an environment that allows miss information to be spread is potentially condemning this referendum to the same fate.

I suppose we can take comfort that all our state premiers can come together on this.

And the referendum will be a chance for Australians on all sides of politics to come together and make a meaningful difference. I'm proud that all First Ministers are working together to seize this opportunity.

Today every First Minister in Australia signed a commitment to support the Voice to Parliament. The Voice will recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in our constitution, and consult on matters affecting them.

Some interesting and clarifying commentary. Worth watching

Yep, it was a joke. I actually like a bit of what Stan writes, but every time I see him on the box, his spray tan reminds me of the long, long ago Black & White Minstrel Show.

I'm beginning to think the VoICE is nothing more than a conscience salve for those who can't figure out how to save the kiddies in remote communities.

Nobody can figure that out. Because the things that might work are politically unacceptable. As we've seen to date, leaving the people in those communities to work it out themselves has basically bred another generation or 2 of dysfunctional people.

Whatever. I'm going sailing.

"a three-sentence addition to the constitution as follows:

1.There shall be a body, to be called the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice.
2.The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice may make representations to Parliament and the Executive Government on matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
3.The Parliament shall, subject to this Constitution, have power to make laws with respect to the composition, functions, powers and procedures of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice."

That's a draft of the proposed amendments.

We don't know what the fuck it's going to be, who's on it, what it costs, whether it will do anything useful.
It's going to make us look good for our voters and that's all that counts.

I wonder how the opposition can dog whistle this one. Hmmm
"Children overboard?" ..nah, too dry
"Little children are sacred??" even dryer.
How about "the voice to parliament will drown out the cries of little children"

Where's Mal Brough and the lying POS "social workers" when they're needed?
The utter ignorance of those arguing for the negative is astounding. Or would have been if I hadn't seen the rise of Tony, Clive, Trump, anti vaxxers, sovereign citizens, and the rest of the fuckwits with my own eyes.
Some are simply not yet tuned out of the Foxy news noise.
But you're being too generous.
There are those here that would make mischief simply to keep the the status quo.
I'd forgotten how far the likes of Howard, Abbott and his clingons will go to willfully deceive.

This.
They were culture warriors.

Making up distractions to fight, while the place burnt down.
Culture Warriors implies something noble and warrior like about them.

Disingenuous, manipulative, evil, perverters and distorters of truth for personal belief are not cultured or warriors.

More like assassins and inquisitors for the unholy "church" of white colonialism

Yes you would pigeonhole anyone who doesn’t toe the woke party line over this nonsense as being a Trumptard. I don’t recall him campaigning for the no vote but I don’t watch the ABC or read the Guardian. It is nothing but token decisive racist bullshit, designed by the Greens and the ALP to distract from their lack of any actual action to improve the lives of indigenous people.
