The Voice. An Australian referendum

Here you go Meli - this is how you can get into politics. Start working as a stripper and pole dancer.

Sorry- I just threw up in my mouth.

New Victorian MP outed as working as a stripper

A politician has revealed she wanted to take her own life after photos of her working as a stripper were leaked without her consent. Georgie Purcell, from the Animal Justice Party, made the comments during her maiden speech on Tuesday, acknowledging she has “a more colourful background than most politicians”.

Shit the moron had a big night! I see she now hangs out with indigenous Architects now as well.
Meli you are a lying cunt that now has the respect of no one on these forums. So why don't you take the hint and fuck off to another forum? Maybe pick one where you know the slightest thing about the basis of the forum.

On behalf of all posters let me offer this advice.
Go fuck yourself you ignorant attention whoring sack of shit.

Incidentally I was in & out of Gove quite a bit in the early 80's and quite liked the place but no idea what it's like now. Lot more crocs about apparently.

There were plenty in the Gove YC anchorage back then. I remember doing a midnight run from the pub with a wheely bin full of beer and ice.
Myself, a bloke called Seagull, and the wheely bin managed to make it to his buddy's Crowther cat in a small tinny, followed all the way by a big one.
Once we'd wrestled the bin onto the boat Seagull accurately pegged the croc on the head with a full can.

It's all fun as long as you don't get eaten.........

I down voted you because you did not include the pre-politics working photos.

So 120 session across 60 sites / groups.

Your reference to 200 communities was just a small exaggeration then. Or perhaps another typo.

Is interesting to read some of the session papers. Quite clearly the co-ordinators turned up with the ideal of the voice as their desired outcome. Listend to feedback, and then said, "We are promoting this idea of the Voice, do you support it".
So a process of gathering support for a precoincieved idea, rather than one of collating all the views of the people surveyed and distilling that in agregate.

The Voice seems to be a half arsed solution to a problem that the indegenous communities don't really have, because based on what MH listed, they clearly have a voice, both advising politicians and within Parliment.

There are multiple indigenous bodies and voices advising the Government but that perhaps the reason they feel they need the VoICE is because the advice on what is really needed doesn’t gel with their lefty whitefella ideals and they don’t want to hear it.

It’s not Whitefella voices who are trying to direct Indigenous policy - it’s Blackfella voices and they are being ignored......perhaps the ultimate example of racism really, after all what would they know, we know better, eh?

Here’s an example of who is currently available to the Gov’t to advise them on Indig’ issues and policies:

· Human Rights Committee
· Torres Strait Regional Authority
· Murdi Paaki Regional Assembly
· Prime Minister’s Indigenous Advisory Council
· ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body
· National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation
· National Congress of Australia’s First Peoples
· Prescribed Bodies Corporate
· Aboriginal Land Councils (multiple Australia wide)

Within Parliament, we have:

· Senator Dorinda Cox, Western Australia
· Senator Patrick Dodson, Western Australia
· Senator Jacqui Lambie, Tasmania
· Senator Kerrynne Liddle, South Australia
· Senator the Hon Malarndirri McCarthy, Northern Territory
· Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price, Northern Territory
· Senator Jana Stewart, Victoria
· Senator Lidia Thorpe, Victoria
· The Hon Linda Burney MP, Member for Barton
· Dr Gordon Reid, Member for Robertson
· Ms Marion Scrymgour, Member for Lingiari

The reality is that there is an incredible level of frustration within the NT at Albo and NT Chief Minister Fyle's commitment to ignoring the legitimate Indigenous voices in Alice and Darwin - ie Indig elders and community leaders - who are screaming for direct action. It is palpable. They completely ignored everything that was told them on Albo’s flit into the Alice where he didn’t even bother getting out to meet with anyone in the community but met only with a hand-picked group - all of whom he and Fyles have so far ignored anyway.....
The current wording provided by easy does not seem to add anything other than adding some white mans tokenisim.

You have to wonder why are we bothering spending $160 million (I think someone mentioned) to achieve nothing. I suppose if it was to get up, our half-arsed PM will boast about this "achievement" at the next election probably to hide his failures that are coming.

If Tennis Albo had any leadership ability and really wanted to make a difference, he would start the debate and an eventual referendum for something more significant like a Treaty.

But he just a mover and shaker politician, better off playing back room politics, getting numbers and branch stacking, rather than being in a position of leadership.

I wonder if Meli has spent much time sailing around Gove?

We held the NT Minnow Championships in Gove in 2001. A big effort getting the boats shipped over there and back, but the hospitality was fabulous.
On the official boat one day we received a radio message that a 10' saltie had been spotted between the moorings and the club - close to our course area. We had every rescue boat and quite a few dinghies motoring back and forth to make underwater noise, and none of the kids got eaten.
My son won his first race in that regatta at the age of 10 - very memorable. He's won a few since then, and it's been a bloody long time since I could beat him!
