Until recently, the only people who could legally carry firearms in Boston were Attorneys, Doctors, Pharmacists, small business owners, and victims of violent crime. You had to take a safety course and pass a live fire test at the police range on Moon Island.///
A friend went through a citizen's academy, hosted by the city police. She heard the chief tell the officers that their first job was to arrive home alive. Would that even have been said if there weren't so few reasonable gun laws on the books?

The record for releasing convicted felons back on the street used to be three gun charges. Now, it’s four.
In other words, there are people on the streets of Boston tried and convicted of gun charges three times, and now have pending charges for a fourth.
