A friend went through a citizen's academy, hosted by the city police. She heard the chief tell the officers that their first job was to arrive home alive. Would that even have been said if there weren't so few reasonable gun laws on the books?

Massachusetts in general and Boston in particular has tons of gun laws: a law enforcement guide to gun laws is over 140 pages. Until recently, the only people who could legally carry firearms in Boston were Attorneys, Doctors, Pharmacists, small business owners, and victims of violent crime. You had to take a safety course and pass a live fire test at the police range on Moon Island.

The record for releasing convicted felons back on the street used to be three gun charges. Now, it’s four.

In other words, there are people on the streets of Boston tried and convicted of gun charges three times, and now have pending charges for a fourth.

Local or state laws are meaningless when you can drive to the next state or a couple over and buy all the guns you need.

A huge part of our illegal weapons problem - 75% - comes from the free availability across the border.

Being unable to comprehend these things is simply willful stupidity.

It seems Canada has a demand problem to address, why do so many Canadians deliberately break the law and buy blackmarket firearms?

I live i n Calif, I went to Nevada for a 4 day weekend and was near a Bass Pro Shop. Went for a visit and to check out the displays. Those stores are so cool and had some great deals.
II visited the Gun/Archery shop too. I asked to check one of the hand guns out. They asked for my ID and saw I was not a Nevadian. The would not even talk to me because they could not "By Law" sell me a firearm.
Yes you can buy firearms cross border/state line illegally. Criminals are everywhere.

The same thing happened when I visited my son in AZ.
I do not know the law in every state but I cannot get Palmetto or Thunder to mail me certain items either.

The point here is a Licensed dealer cannot sell a firearm illegally. And if you know Licensed Dealer selling illegally, you should report them.
