Another gun fruitcake.

71 year old road rage suspect had 40 guns, inc machine gun, and 10,000 rounds of ammunition

San Jose police officers found 40 guns and 10,000 rounds of ammunition in a man’s home as part of a search warrant related to a road rage incident, officials said in a Thursday news release.

Michael Myers, 71, was arrested April 28 on suspicion of firing a gun during a road rage event near the intersection of Quimby Road and Remington Way on April 13, the San Jose Police Department said.

Officers responded to the incident around 9:30 a.m., and Myers fled the scene, police said. The department said it conducted a follow-up investigation after identifying Myers as the suspect.

SJPD said it obtained a search warrant for Myers’ home and a warrant for his arrest. The department subsequently found Myers and arrested him without incident. Recruit officers of the department also served Myers with an emergency gun violence restraining order, which prevents him from owning a gun, SJPD said.

In Myers’ home, officers found a large number of weapons:

21 semi-automatic and bolt-action rifles
16 handguns, three of which were privately made firearms (ghost guns)
Two shotguns
One full-auto submachine gun
10,000 rounds of ammunition

I SOOOO wish every drag queen in Florida walks into their nearest gun shop and... shoots videos of the reactions.
The reaction might be that the gun shop regulars feel threatened and resort to "stand your ground" with their unlicensed concealed carry guns. Although I think most gun shops don't allow loaded guns to come in...sort of like the NRA events, state legislatures and crap, I can't even bring a fingernail clipper into the Jax city hall.

That's intense
Indeed.

I’d never heard of this before (not being in ‘Murca). So - I looked it up. The Wikipedia article tells me that in response, several lawmakers proposed raising the age for children to be able to handle fully automatic guns (like the Uzi machine gun that the little 9 year old girl lost control of at the firing range) to 16. That proposal has never received traction. What a weird fucking place.

People in homes with handguns more likely to be shot dead, major study finds

...

In particular, the researchers found, people who lived with handgun owners had a much higher rate of being fatally shot by a spouse or intimate partner. The vast majority of such victims, 84%, were women, they said.

Living with a handgun owner particularly increased the risk of being shot to death in a domestic violence incident, and it did not provide any protection against being killed at home by a stranger, the researchers found.

Actually, I thought the gun nuts’ argument to arm literally everybody, kindergarten teachers, priests, doctors, taxi drivers, McDonalds cashiers, etc etc etc etc was supposed to closely follow that of M.A.D. from the Cold War nuclear arms race era - Mutually Assured Destruction. If we’re all armed, no one dare shoot anyone else for fear of getting annihilated.

Unfortunately for them, it’s a completely fucked up line of reasoning.
The problem with the MAD theory as applied to arming teachers and stuff (which I personally think is a HORRIBLE idea) is that MAD relies on both sides to use logic and reasoning for deterrence to work.

Unfortunately, the very people that teachers would need to arm themselves against are the exact opposite of reasonable and rational. In fact a lot of these shitheads would relish the thought of going out in a blaze of glory in an epic gun battle.

Fortify the schools so the shitbags can't get in. Don't go out of your way to make it the OK Corral.

NOT just "arm teachers and staff".

(1) would require a deep background check to filter out some of the FREAKS that are in the schools these days.

(2) extensive SWAT training and coordination with local LEO.

One of the FEW bits of Covenent shooters manifesto that did come out,

, was that another initial target school was rejected because their security was too good.

" There are studies that show media coverage on these mass killings do have a contagion or copycat effect. "

, and we have talked before about media hyping this kind of stuff,

They get LOTS of clicks (spells money)
