Cool machine and turning raw wood into a wooden hot tub would be fun. But changing from one operation to the next would become tiresome. Still, good video if you've got nothing else to do.

Used? https://groups.io/g/felderownersgroup/topic/selling_my_felder_cf741_s/71038780?p=

New might set you back $30K. MiniMax deserves a look, too.

The thing I don't like about Felder is it's almost impossible to get setup info from them. I've got a Hammer 12" JP and I had to get the setup info from a woodworking forum. Even the reps didn't have them.

This has nothing to do with tools but I thought it was cool.

A friend/neighbor passed away several years ago. He was a lineman for PSCO in Colorado waaaay back in the day. He told me stories of early in his career when he was part of a crew digging holes by hand and setting power poles with a gin pole high up in the rockies. He was pretty much a bad ass.

Anyway his widow found this old lamp he made decades ago using on old electric meter. When you switch on the lamp the meter turns, very slowly. She wants me to replace the cord and make sure it's safe to use.

I have an 8' stroke sander shop-built by a friend in Walla Walla. He shipped it to Wyoming as a gift! The platen is simply a wooden block with a handle on the back, faced with graphite cloth. Takes a really delicate touch to use, but an amazing tool for cabinet shops. Right next to it is an edge sander I built from a dining table someone tossed in a dumpster.

Are the Milwaukee and Makita tools sold at Big Box stores the same tools that are sold at contractor suppliers?

I know that some brands sell different versions at Big Box stores made just to hit a price point. They look the same and have similar model numbers, but have lower quality bearings etc.

Anybody know if Milwaukee and/or Makita do that?

I’m in the market for a cordless right angle drill and small cordless drill.

I like my 12 volt Bosch drill. A matching impact driver was in the kit. Good value.
those are excellent on a boat, get a hold of an old battery pack and wire a std male 3 pin domestic plug to it then you can use it with a standard AC extension cord as a corded drill off a 12v battery source, use the neutral and earth wires as conductors in case some dipshit tries to pug it into the mains AC though, a little voltage drop sure but it works bloody well, handy up the rig

I have heard (from a company rep) that DeWalt does not do that, but that was many years ago.
Stihl definitely does that, as does John Deere. Deere dealerships won't even work on a Home Depot lawn tractor. They'll sell you belts, blades, and other parts at green paint prices, but they won't perform warranty repairs, or service. (At least the Deere dealerships around here that I called)

I can confirm that DeWalt's commercial tools are still the same as the ones for the Big Box stores. The issue with commercial use is that they're stolen long before they wear out. They're integrating tool tracking hardware already but the software sucks. For now.
