Sorry Sean, was not a dig at what your doing with the foils on your boat, was more of a dig at certain people who may consider foils the worlds greatest and most significant sailing evolution. Though maybe I'm too quick to judge, people were probably saying the same things when asso kites arrived and then carbon masts on skiffs.
I guess people who like the idea of foils will go that way. Just as some people like sailing dinghy's and some like sailing skiffs. People have the choice to pick and choose what appeals to them, this could be seen in that crazy out-of-hand taser on foils post.
=====================

Thats "revolution". Nothing in the last 100 years has added the kind of speed to an 11' monohull that allows it to beat EVERY monohull or catamaran under 20'!! And thats just the begining as you can see if you look around. Bi-foiler technology offers speed advances and /or thrilling sailing in the air in boats from dinghies to multihulls to 60' maxi's-stay tuned-you'll see what I mean.......

At least we know one thing for sure- none of Doug's 'work' will make any significant contribution to his beloved revolution!!

By the way how's your new boat coming along Doug? When can we expect to see some pics of it in all it's glory?

I will give doug $100 if he shows up with something he built that can foil in a straight line, that he can sail in, i.e. no models

I will give doug $300 if he can sail a 49er in two stringing conditions one lap around a race course

but if he takes those bets he has to sacrifice something in return if he fails(when)

Maybe not yet-just a matter of time. Notice that I said "...EVERY monohull or catamaran under 20'!!" so that sorta leaves the Tornado out for the time being.

doug there was no moth racing there !!!

I am not driving to you, i hate southern florida. All i see is a chicken clucking.

So god of foiling i got a couple questions we will start with easy ones

Your boat must be coming along slowly since you spend all day on the internet trolling right?

When was the last time you sailed any dinghy that you had to hike in, when it was windy?

You are still planing to coming to the gorge right?

will you have mastered your foiling technique by then?

This isn't southern, Florida! Do I get the boat by default? I mean you challenged me to sail a Moth ,I agreed and you didn't show up. And there were HUNDREDS of witnesses....

sure come up to detroit and get the moth, or actually fly out to hawaii where I am racing it right now.

I never said anything about florida, I offered to let you have a go in new orleans. Don't you remember there were hundreds of witnesses

Well now, I don't know-you issued a challenge-I accepted and you defaulted-I think you should probably deliver the boat, don't you agree?

you have to prove you can sail it you never did that. That is all you have to do doug, prove you can foil a moth I think you should get off your arse and come to me. I did not default because you are lazy

Doug:

There comes a time in every man's life where you figure out you are not the baddest mo'fo' on the block. Admitting this, even to yourself is hard, but you actually can gain peer respect for your good judgment.

Failing to admit this and continuing to antagonize people who are badder than yourself (bgulari in this case) just makes you look stupid and pitiable. He's the real deal, and you are not. Be smart enough to stop.

What I recall of said incident was that bgulari had made an offer that Doug had refused but proposed another date and it to be in Florida that had a scheduling conflict with bgulari's actual sailing schedule. I don't think anyone owes anyone anything yet.

If the Gorge comes and goes without Doug, then I would call it case closed and Doug should retreat to the shadows.

Well I'm putting up my Laser II conversion as the prize for Doug if he makes it around the course once in the Gorge. Heck, if he can get one of his RC toys to make it around the full course I might even consider it a win for him. After all, given the wind and waves, I don't think any RC multi is going to end up upright for more than 1/3 the course.

I've got another $50 that says that Lord won't 1) show in Oregon for the Worlds and 2) will not be able to foil a full size race prepped Moth around a pair of markers in the river. Lord must perform both feats cleanly and without exception before the gathered masses at the Gorge at the Moth Worlds, to collect. There will be no sidebar, "I did this", crapola at some nonsense vacant venue on the Willamette River with nobody around. Should Lord fail either, or both, points of the challenge, he must wear a "Dunce of the Foil" cone hat and stand for photos before the assembled mass.

There will be a bonus $50 if he actually shows up with his 20 something footer foiling whatever with the sliding WingWang and the boy in the bubble inside as ballast... and makes it work over the same Moth Foiler course in front of the whole gang at the Moth World's, proving the concept by dealing with the up canyon winds of the Gorge, the relentless Columbia River current and the pure Broadway nature of actually getting it off the trailer.

I will be there shooting video and high res stills for the Worlds and will officially volunteer to record the soon to be famous, Doug Lord's Fulfillment of a Dream epic event for Youtube and a front page splash here at SA. I'll even put on my drysuit and Churchill's, Doug and get some water shots while you do a savory wet mount.

What do you say, Lord?... it's time to sack up for the main event. Get your cut man, your "trainer" (no, you can not bring the staff of your nearest 7-11 in this capacity) and get on down as it's time for The Roar at the Gorge... Let's get ready to Ruuuuuuuumble!
