Tomahawk: Peoples Foiler?!

Doug seems to have boycotted both this and the foiling 49er thread. (which are basically both the same) Becuase he hasn't replyed since i was last here 23 hours ago. Maybe we have found the thing to get rid of him: the possibility of getting him on a boat.

Wow you quoted me in the 3 seconds it took me to change it so it made more sense!
well the hints of this have been there all along Bora got him there initially with the "come sail" invitation. But it was too easy for him to back out.

Now he's faced with having to explain why getting to sail in real conditions with real sailors able to coach AND watch is something of low priority to him.

As someone else pointed out - he see's how this makes his claims look spurious. The Worlds being in the USA made this a viable approach.

Since I really can't say anything nice about the people making these so-called "offers"(or the "offer" itself) I won't say anything. I will say that I have probably foiled a monofoiler before most people on this forum, and have many hours on a Rave. The fact that some here try to rewrite history because I won't provide pictures as "proof" is absurd-and their problem-not mine. There is probably more foiler development going on down here than anyplace else in the US-no need to go anywhere to see/sail foilers!

Jon's Tomahawk foils may be a breakthru-can't wait to find out....

Douglas, you're much too modest about your personally claimed accomplishments.

Just yesterday, I conducted a quick Google search for Doug Lord Inventor. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that Doug, at the age of fourteen months, had invented an asswiping device that quickly spread in popularity in the neighborhood where he and his family lived. Trouble was, not one single baby in that small American town could get it to work. Salvation arrived when they all began to speak and like a chorus, they all told Doug just how wonderful it was to have their asses wiped by his genius device.

Douglas beamed as any small child would when basking in the glow of peer group adulation. He took it so deeply to heart that he never bothered to verify the truth of the mulitude of claims. Not one toddler in the bunch were walking about with a clean ass crack! Doug soon discovered this reality when the collective butts of his friends soon over-powered every play date, no matter the newness of the train set or talking dog toys.

Refusing to admit that his invention had failed in the marketplace, Baby Douglas adopted the tactic that has seen him through ever since.... It doesn't matter what anybody else thinks or knows, it only matters what Doug claims the facts to be. Reality having been successfully damned, our boy, the toddling Douglas, made his way in life, never changing that one simple twisted paradigm that had gotten him through the baby canyon of death with only his secret knowing to nag him ever since.

I find it marvelously connective that Doug's inventions have grown ever more complex as he searches for the salvation that will free him from the personal terror of the failed ass wiping machine of his baby years. Unfortunately, none of his howling in the dark has been able to make these devices perform any better than the pitiful, butt crack gouging mechanism from long ago.

Guys, Doug has clearly had a tough life. Perhaps we should be more sensitive to his life long dilemma and give him a pass on all that he is?

Doug:

You do not know ANY of the people who have offered you the opportunity to go to the Gorge and sail. The Internet and on-line forums are not how you get to know people. Nor do any of the people present on an on-line forum really know you. The only basis for judgment is the words and pictures each one puts up for public consumption.

You are the one who controls and creates the impression people get of you. Your words, your photographs, your subjects, your reactions and your behavior. No one else is sitting at your keyboard doing it.

Forming an opinion about how "nice" people are or the sincerity of their offers to help based on forum posts is idiotic. For my part, my offers to help pay for bus fare to get you to Louisiana to try Bora's Bladerider and $50 to help get you to the Gorge were real.

No one wants to ridicule you if you crash & burn taking out a 49er for the first time - I wrote about my public humiliation one my first solo ride and so did BalticBandit. Everybody goes through this and the shared experience is important. Your personal reputation on this forum would go up orders of magnitude if you showed up and failed miserably (like the rest of us). If you go out and show us all we are unworthy, you'll become a cult hero! This is a win-win scenario for you. If Clean can go out and get Bora's Bladerider foiling at 200 pounds, so can you. No one expects foiling gybes, and everyone expects crashes.

If finances are a problem and you really want to go to the Gorge, people here will help. If money isn't a problem, show up and you get to go for the ride of your life. Don't avoid the opportunity to sail at one of the world's coolest locations, and see the World Championships for the Moth class because you are worried about people on Sailing Anarchy being there. I bet you could sail beside any one of us and never have a clue who we are on-line.

Generally, dinghy sailors are some of the nicest people you can meet. Generous to fault, socially fun and willing to accept everyone for who they are. Even though you've gone out of you way to antagonize many people here on the forum, I'd bet 9 out of 10 people here would hand you a beer and give you a hand rigging and launching if you showed up with a prototype boat at their club.

Don't confuse Sailing Anarchy with reality - I certainly don't.

Can we organise a 'get Doug sailing' fund. I'm sure the IMCA committee wouldn't mind diverting a few dollars of everyone's worlds entry fee into a Doug prize fund! Lets see how much money it takes for him to turn up!! I'm only sorry I won't be there to witness it/ not witness it.
Budget is very very tight - maybe you could enter anyway, then we would have more cash for your fund?
Fair point :) . I definitely cant come but but i'd put up some cash even to see a video/photo of him sailing.
