I ask the same on my "Getting To Know You" sheet, provided on day one. I ask their pronoun preference and if it is okay to use in communicating with parents. My reason for asking "permission" stems from a former student who was ritually abused by parents for daring to be transgender. I certainly do not want to be the one to invite abuse.

I did like this part from the article - “That we live in a country where schools are actively pushing kids to change their gender and hide it from their parents is something I never thought I would face as a parent,” Kimberly S. Hermann from the Southeastern Legal Foundation told Fox News.

Who the fuck is pushing kids? Certainly not schools/teachers. If anyone is pushing, it's regressives who are trying to shove everyone into one of two boxes they feel are sufficient. That way, their delicate sensibilities aren't challenged or damaged.

On a similar note: I person wants to start a business, I Assume to make money, but then reuse to handle customers she disagrees with, that doesn't seem to make good business sense to me, by cutting out 1/2 your clients?

When a student enters your classroom how do you determine the student's gender? Do their parents enroll them as a boy or girl or something else, and if so, what would you do if the student decides to identify as something other than what they are enrolled as? This is not a hypothetical, it's already happened.
