The NY Post reports Avi Silverberg, the head coach for Team Canada Powerlifting for more than 10 years, entered last weekend’s Heroes Classic tournament in Lethbridge, Alberta, after identifying as a female.
CPU’s transgender policy states an individual “should be able to participate in the gender with which they identify and not be subject to requirements for disclosure of personal information beyond those required of cisgender athletes”.

Look mate you need to understand that I do not hate or in anyway dislike the trannie community. I in fact feel very sorry for them, it must be horrific living that life. I am all for inclusiveness, but I don't think their condition should be 'celebrated' or encouraged in anyway as being normal. It ain't. Just like I don't think any mental illness should be celebrated. I attended the funeral of a dear friend who passed away two weeks ago. His youngest daughter who is transitioning to a male made the most wonderful speech about his dad and how he never questioned him about his decision and how the night before Christmas his dad rang every relative to make sure his new name was on all of his presents.
I am just very grateful that I have two normal, heterosexual sons. If they were not I would not love them any less, but I would not wish a transgender child on anyone.
And yes I do not draw the line in taking the piss out of anyone. To do so would be noninclusive.

Having seen families successfully navigate this issue, one of the first casualties is archaic definitions of “normal” and “healthy.”
It’s easy to tell who hasn’t been forced to confront these issues, because they are talking, quite literally, about stuff they don’t understand.
Think of going to war, living overseas, or having kids. You just wont be the same afterwards; it changes the way you think.
Families that fall apart, are dysfunctional and heap indignity after insult on the nonconformist in their midst?
They sound just like you at the expense of their family members. And they may not even be on the mark about their nice, normal, healthy kid being hetero.

Dude, I knew you might get triggered, and it was good fun watching you dance for a minute. But if you don’t want your kids being obliquely discussed, don’t bring them into the convo.
I used “they” in that sentence for a reason. I did not write “you”. I did not refer to their gender or how many of them. I was still referring to a hypothetical dysfunctional family’s reaction with none of the details you provided, so chill.
But I know exactly what you mean, and you’re right, families have it a lot easier when they don’t have to deal with this issue.
But those that successfully navigate the issue? Yeah, they no longer have the luxury of your mindset. And given the numbers, a huge number of people are either gonna think it through now, or risk harming their loved ones later.
Or even be harming them in the present and not be aware of it because it’s hidden. That’s just reality, no matter how easily offended you are by the suggestion of it.
And nobody gets to define “normal” for other people… 5.6% of USAians identify as LGBTQ and it’s growing.
Nobody “wants” this for their kids, as far as I know. The risk of suicide, societal & financial costs are frightening. I’m just trying to promote healthy kids and people. I think people can figure out what’s best on an individual basis, and don’t want knee jerk conservatives getting the government involved.
