Will be good to see Triple Jack back out on the race course. I wish ALIEN was still around to show them the way around the course...

Maybe the revamped Triple Jack would show Alien the way around! Will be good to see Triple Jack back out on the race course. I wish ALIEN was still around to show them the way around the course...

It was HugoThere wasn't much left of ALIEN after she was left on her mooring in Great Cruz bay after a nasty hurricane that I can't even remember the name of now. She had been sold and bought for only a week or so. No revamping after that storm...
I want to see photos on the water. Thinking positively they’re probably still shaking down the rig after today’s trials getting ready to race. Or enjoying a frosty beverage…Well ....? I have been patiently waiting for 5 years..... did it happen...?
yep.... I hope all went well for them.....I want to see photos on the water. Thinking positively they’re probably still shaking down the rig after today’s trials getting ready to race. Or enjoying a frosty beverage…
Not Hugo, I was in Culebra for Hugo and will never forget that nightmare! It was Hugo
I thought Alien was in Culebra - my bad.Not Hugo, I was in Culebra for Hugo and will never forget that nightmare!
My Tri was in Culebra for Hugo. Not a good decision on my part...I thought Alien was in Culebra - my bad.
That nice wing vented Cross 40 I saw in St John?My Tri was in Culebra for Hugo. Not a good decision on my part...
Yes, it was actually a Cross. FOXFIRE was the name it was registered under. And Great Cruz Bay was my homeport/mooring. I think that it was an unauthorised copy of the Cross 32 R that a guy in Florida had built and then scaled up to 42 for his own personal version. I never saw any mention of a 42R on the Norm Cross website and after my personal interaction with the builder I think that the guy was a putz and my boat was somewhat a ripoff bastard. It had the wing vents that you mention and was a pretty good tri for its era. It was pretty forgiving and always took me out of harm. I was young and dumb and full of rum during those days when I sailed it from Gulfport MS down to the VI and the God's must have been smiling down on me! I eventually added a sugar scoop onto the rather large and unused transom of the original design. That stretched out the run of the main hull to 46' and cleaned up the waterflow of the hull and was a favorite place for the girls I invited sailing to do whatever girls do when they experience the thrill of a fast sailing trimaran! That nice wing vented Cross 40 I saw in St John?
Congratulations!!Launched!
What a relief after a very long 'haulout'.
Husky Salvage used the same crane that trundled Triple Jack from near the concrete bridge, that should have finished her off at the tail end of Hurricane Irma, to the rebuild site for the last 5 years or so. They trundled her again to the water's edge. It was a bit nerve wracking with the 'fast line' ball swinging around near the hounds...but it all went very smoothly
With the scales only good for 10,00llbs I had left off the daggerboard, the spinnaker, genoa, all sheets AND the 8 ocean winches of various sizes.
In this 'lightened state we registered 8820llbs or 4009kg.
Pretty happy with that but now we have to load up the daggerboard with those heavy items weigh them. Frikking heavy is my best guess.
BUT it was nice to see her floating high on her lines, even if it's only for a fleeting moment.
Ballistic, we were the only ones in the weight sweepstake. The jury is out on who has the upper hand, hope it's me! Regardless I look forward to having a pint or 2 with you next time I am in Blighty or when you visit!
This thread will be ending soon. Once we are all set up after sea trials and are race ready, I think I will call it a day and move on. The job is a few details away from being done, Irma did not beat us in this case!
What really bought it all home today was seeing Rosie, who is nearly 8, jumping in the tramps and loving the boat...but she has never been for a sail on her! Same for Steve's youngest, Jervis. That will be remedied very soon.
History is those 2, super excited to be on a saildrive base 'Scrumping mission' t o Buck Island with their dads a few years ago!
