The problem team R faces right now is that they can't win a primary without Trumpism. But they can't win a general with Trumpism. This is why they are doomed to never have power again until they can shed themselves of Trumpism.
Another option is that real conservatives start a new party and let the GOP die along with the boomers. But that would guarantee Ds remain in power for at least the next 2 full cycles after this one.
