I'm sticking with Biden. He has only been in office for two years, and the results are good. In another year, we will either have the confidence in a second term or a change will be necessary.

I don't think anyone can beat Trump in the primaries and I think he has a good chance of reclaiming the presidency. All of the investigations have kept him in the limelight and given him exactly the type of publicity he thrives on and his base eats up. There are plenty of republicans beyond his base that will hold their nose and vote for him. I didn't think he had a chance in hell in 2016. He made me a believer. IMO, It is hubris to think otherwise.

I would agree he will carry the Republican vote. Clearly, they'll vote for a pile of horseshit, as long as the Liberals have to smell it.

I am curious how the Independents will go. My sense is there were enough of them in 2016 to give crazy a chance. Now that they know what he is capable of doing (rage-Tweeting and golfing), will they make the same mistake?

Finally, will the Democrats turn out the vote?

Independents have trended further and further from Trump and the insane trump posse (lake/oz/walker/etc) since 2016. The crazier these fuckers get, the smaller their share of the electorate and the more fervent their supporters get.
Man I want you to be correct on this! Here in Trumpganastan NE Florida, his support seems to be just as solid as it ever was, although a Democrat just got the most votes in a mayoral election yesterday, but not more than 50%. It goes to runoff against a split Republican vote.

Biden over performed in 2022, ask McConnell, and Democrats have done well in the special elections. Also, Presidents are usually re-elected. Shitstain didn't get re-elected. So it's a pretty sure bet that he'll re-lose again.

The Ds should run Mayor Pete.
Decorated war vet, proven capable administrator, totally clean history, intelligent, under pension age, and a married gay man.

Attacking him would make Fox and the social media bots look like assholes.

He would make a good Prez. And doing a good job could develop some RW support for a second term. "Well, he's a goddam faggot, but at least he ain't black."
Have you just emerged from a coma that lasted about 12 years or more?
Fox LOVES being the asshole and their audience LOVES it too.

Trump will mop the floor with Lil Puddin, even without indictment. Once he’s indicted the primaries are over.

Between now and 11/24 there will be more fascist violence, perhaps as early as this weekend in Waco (but not likely to be done in American territory as in a democRAT city). That will further alienate normal people.

Nix on Buttigieg. Fox loves him because he's the modern day Alan Colmes. The day after he announced he was running, Fox would discover that he was gay and ask him why he didn't make this know before running.

Nix on Beto as well. If he can't win Texas in Texas, then no, just no.

It will probably be Gavin Newsom after Biden. I'm fine with that. There are a lot of things I like about Gavin. He does have a resume at this point. While he's not intellectually brilliant like Obama or Clinton or Carter, he does take the fight to Desantis rather than just sit back. Buttigieg appears on Fox but like Colmes he doesn't really kick their ass any. He's too polite and on point to do that.

I have to think that Trump's accusations about DeSantis's teaching career are going to leave a mark. Maybe there is nothing there are at all, but there seems to be a lot of credulous GOP voters.

Florida has a very large population, yet it is not really representative of or our country. It's more like Texas than America. Florida is the limp dick of democracy, Texas is north mexico.

I hope you are right, but a lot of people vote their pocketbooks. With 40 year high inflation and a 20% dip in retirement accounts, the Dems have not covered themselves in glory with those numbers. I do realize that does not rest solely on the shoulders of this administration. We will see what the economic situation is when 2024 rolls around, but if we are in a recession or inflation isn't under control, I fear the rich will take their tax cuts and the poor will be misled by Trump once again.

Florida is lost until a storm wipes out Citizens and the state's budget for 20 years and all the republicans run and hide. Angry divorced men who lost custody of their kids and evangelical churches keep flooding in while teachers and doctors and tech workers flee. As shown in 2020 and 2022, Florida votes the opposite of America.

Thinking rich people will compare the US performance to that of our European neighbors. Really rich people will not, because they get handouts directly from all republican presidents.

The record turnout among the young will help the cause of democracy, assuming democrats can continue to leverage Roe and republicans keep trying to openly turn women into cattle.

Good point. I am guessing independent women will vote strongly democratic due to Roe.

Remember: In voluntary elections, who turns out decides the elections. As long as under 35s keep overparticipating and old independents keep underparticipating, republicans are fucked, at least in national elections and everywhere that didn't vote trump+25 or higher.

There is at least a small group of Republicans that have figured it out, to some extent. For example, the anti-Brownback wing of Kansas Republicans. The GOP was surprised that no bazillionaires moved to Kansas when they reversed the tax rates.

Gov. Brownback crashed and burned and Chris Kobach was one of his buddies who fled the sinking ship to the Trump Admin only to find that it was even worse.

Florida is going to have a similar come-uppance.

The Proud Boys and their elk seem to have actually realized that rioting for Trump is not going to gain them anything but trouble. I'm a little surprised by this.

No doubt there are still plenty of loyal trumpalos who send in their money to own us libs. Probably enough to win Trump the Republican primaries.
