almost  solid vote from repubs against accountability in the face of overwhelming evidence  - and the veiled dem threats of unmasking the in house colaborators.

Just the usual two defectors.

So I  was wrong again.....

I must say that as a keen observer of historical  fascism this has been a wonderful priviliedge to watch and hear this unfold in English and in real time  as opposed to having to rely on historical reports translated from Italian and German.

I am really looking forward to the public hearings

Too many of them to prosecute them all individually. Hopefully by hammering down a few of the top ones, the rest will give up and go back to being Republicans.

I don't think that plan is working out very well, so far.

With the current state if the Republican party, it will further reinforce support from their voters in time for the 2022 midterms.

Maybe this means all the repub lawmakers got the power point

And kept quiet about it and are therefore complicit.

It may have been explicit, but more likely implicit.

It likely involves whether they would be able to enjoy the support (especially financial support) of the GOP, moving forward.  I imagine any and all of them fear being tossed off the gravy train. 

Add in the likelihood of charges and the hope they can take back the House in 2022.  That would go a long way to stopping this.  The following quote often attributed to Benjamin Franklin sums up, quite nicely, what I believe to be the message - 

" WE MUST HANG TOGETHER OR SURELY WE SHALL HANG SEPARATELY"

There is little to no comparison.

It's probably hard to comprehend from this vantage point but when Watergate happened there were a lot of Republicans, maybe most of them, with honour and integrity.

It's not close at all. This is orders of magnitude worse.

Nixon was a naughty boy. He tried to secretly record his political opponent for strategic benefit. 

Trump and his team are actively and openly trying to undo democracy.
