I will be spending two weeks in Hong Kong over Christmas. It's my first time there; any suggestions on what to do? I'm curious about:

where to get damn good dim sum

other great food

good (but not crazy expensive) bespoke suits

sightseeing

markets?

thanks all

We wrote heaps about visiting Hong Kong in a thread about 2 years ago.

Search for it because I'm not going to re-type it all. ;)

Cheers.

If you are going to be in HK for 2 weeks, maybe try a trip across the border into China for a few days to Guangzhou (relatively short train trip) or a bit further afield.

ok, MOST people can get a china visa in HK,

some will need to go back to home country, depending on passport issuing country to do the visa app

so you talk about a day or a bit less in HK doing the application

point is, must have it BEFORE you present at chinese immigration ... better to have it done before you leave home

Don't ask me how I know ....

You just need to go to a China Travel Service (CTS) in Hong Kong and they will process your visa for you- doesn't take long. You et charged the same as what your country charges them.

Rub and tug!
Feh!

Nothing unique to HKG (or interesting) about that.

Well Mr. Tufmuff it seems that familiarity bread contempt, how are those massage parlors in Singapore? Got any favorites?
Puhleaze! You've got to be kidding.

Why is it that so many people think that Asian tourism is all about getting a shitty massage followed by a stranger jerking you off?

Meanwhile...

Hong Kong is loaded with history and so many nooks and crannies of cool stuff. Walking is the only way to see it too.

Walk along the shore front in Stanley or Aberdeen.

Walk the backstreets of Causeway Bay or Wanchai and see what you might discover.

Walk up Nathan Road in Kowloon on a Sunday after dim sum.

Go bar-hopping in Sai Kung on a Thurs night after a seafood dinner.

Walk around Happy Valley race track in the early morning.

Or even more curious...walk around the huge cemetery next to Happy Valley...if you want to see some history!

Go hiking - HK has tons and tons of excellent hiking trails (most people don't think/know about this when HK in mentioned).

What about the gook rubs? Where do we go to get those?

Oh "mad" don't be so angry. I can only presume that you don't like getting ripped off by hookers as much as I. Lets class it up a bit, how about where to find Gagnam "style" hookers? You know top shelf slanty. Maybe a couple of them for the night. You guys are right a simple rub and tug is so passe.

I know tuf-luf know where to get them I wish he would let us know...
