per my other reply:

He was complying with voice commands, his hands were visible and supporting his weight, officer 1 decides to kick him in the head which throws him off balance and makes it more difficult for him to comply. (This is not the foot on the back aspect you referenced in your earlier reply)

Shortly thereafter officer 2 comes in and again, stomps on the back on the head.

Once he is in cuffs, officer 1 again kicks him this time in the upper back/neck, WHILE HE IS IN CUFFS.

It is quite disturbing that you can't see that his as inappropriate.

As the suspect appeared to comply with officer’s instructions his head was kicked into the counter and his face struck the ground.

His breathing changed at that point to groans, possibly due to facial (nose?) trauma.

Once he is cuffed, officers relax and begin to search around for the weapon. The suspect, having audible breathing difficulties and now in a stress position (prone and cuffed makes breathing difficult) naturally tries to improve his breathing and is once again kicked prone.

I would suggest that after cuffing the bad guy, they could have cleared his pockets, waistband & socks for weapons before lowering their guard, which would also have the benefit of permitting the suspect who is now safely in their custody to breathe more easily by changing his position.

I get the “absolute compliance, immediately”, especially when the fuckwad has just fired at cops. But cameras were rolling and there is no reason for this douchebag to have a civil case against the city.

The counterpoint to this is that there was a loaded firearm somewhere in the store, and securing it not only preserves evidence, but protects the officers and bystanders. So finding it takes priority.

I’m left thinking that the blows injuring the face of a suspect who is visibly complying only created difficulties that increased the officers’ necessary task list.

So my biggest complaint is that the blows were inefficient at securing the scene and protecting life.

Whatever. Can’t say I care much. Anyone shooting at a cop can only hope they get treated as well as this guy did.
