Russia has postponed indefinitely all annexation referenda that were planned for their newly-occupied areas in Ukraine. Annexation authorities are fleeing back to Russia, along with many occupation authorities in Crimea. Ukrainian troops have reached the border northeast of Kharkiv. It’s not over by a long shot, but the tide is turning.

The missile attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure aren't new but if RU keeps hitting the power supply systems causing blackouts then things will get even worse in UKR, especially this winter.

The only way to prevent these missile strikes could well be to go after the launch sites, be they from in RU near Belgorad or from in Belarus or even from the ships in the Black Sea. I see this expanding, unfortunately.

edit: just read analysis how Ukraine made no secret to taking Kherson, Russia moved 10k troops to stiffen the defense so Ukraine attacked in the northeast with just enough attack in the south to keep Russia from being able to move troops again. Am still depressed about the state of the war, even this 'victory' has been roughly a 50x50 miles area, a small sliver of UKR. And it looked mostly empty and useless.

Hopefully the taking of Izyum will have a bad effect on RU's supply lines, being a railroads junction. Hopefully it is a bad effect on RU symbolically too, as well as a big morale-booster to UKR.

No bridges in the southern theater for the Russians to redeploy helped. Plus fixing the rest there with the small problem of the loss of the entire bridgehead. It doesn't really qualify as a feint, it's a legitimate front that will soon bear fruit, albeit frozen fruit.

They've taken back about 90% of the Kharkiv oblast, the likely next move is the Zaporizhia oblast. If they can cut across to Mariople, the Kherson oblast can only be supplied by the Kerch bridge, which would be in range of HIMARs on Zaporizhia's shore. Checkmate for both and for Crimea.
Some reports both sides are aware of this and are rushing stuff down there now. This is a place the Russians absolutely must defend so the true state of their military will be told.

Luhansk and Donetsk are likely to be last. Perhaps even allowed to split away to end the conflict. Honor may be satisfied by re-claiming everything but that, perhaps.
