Great article, thanks. My only experience with the UKR military was an exchange mission in the late 90s where we flew jets into the UKR for some exercises and then we hosted them to our base in the US and they brought 6x SU-27s over the pond to fight USAF jets on the East coast. Exactly as the Author said, the UKR forces at that time were little removed from the Soviet Union. The lower ranks really wanted to be better, but the Sr leaders were lazy and corrupt. They were trying though and super nice people once you got them drinking vodka in the fighter Sq bar. Very glad to see they've come this far! This was posted back in April, but it's still a good read. We've trained the hell out the Ukes since 2014. They've been completely remade. They're no longer a former Soviet Republic but rather a neo NATO military.
