Captured documents reveal Russia's plan to annex Ukraine in ten days and kill its leaders
Russia planned to seize Ukraine within ten days and kill its leaders, according to new documents apparently signed off by Vladimir Putin.
The leaked plans, revealed by the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies (Rusi), show that Russia aimed to have annexed the country by August.
Russia intended to capture Ukraine’s airfields, water supplies, central bank and parliament as Ukrainian officials either fled or were captured “as a result of the speed of the invasion".
The Kremlin created a "kill list" of Ukrainians that should be killed or suppressed.

Upon landing, the Russian VDV came under heavy artillery fire and were subsequently cleared from the airfield by a mechanised counterattack. Similar operations attempted in southern Ukraine and attempts to insert special forces in western Ukraine were unsuccessful for similar reasons.
I heard of that attempt to infiltrate in West Ukraine, thought it was fog of war.
It was on the map of the Belarus dictator .......

Yea, that looks like nonsense.
The GRAD 'dumb missiles' travels at about Mach 2 and the HIMARS at about Mach 2.5. The HiMARS evades, the GRAD doesn't. The Ukrainians often fire them together which means the Russian defense systems have to make a choice on which to defend. The 'software' patch is likely some attempt to distinguish the two based presumably on a speed differential to prioritize targets. WHEE! Will it help? Maybe a few less commanders will die? But in the larger conflict, nope.
What makes the HiMARS matter is US targeting. The Ukrainians get real time target selection info which enables them to shoot and scoot from well over the horizon within minutes. They have no ability to do that on their own which is how the US restrains the fight from spilling into Russia proper. The Russians don't have that level of battlefield targeting which means they're counter punching against a target moving in multiple possible directions.
A software patch isn't going to change that dynamic. Just propaganda.

I think that all of our HARM missiles are air launched only. In particular, there is no surface launched AGM-88. I can imagine how a surface launched HARM missile would work but it would be more complicated. BTW, the AGM-88 has pretty good range. I'm going to assume it's being used as a stand off.
