Germany now officially approved anyone to send Leopard tanks, even from commercial parties.

Sounds kind of promising, but I fail to see any major progress here.
The Leo 1 has been out of production for way over 20 years, out of active training for just a little less time and is short on ammo, spares and instructors.
It is most definitely not a Leo 2, neither A4 or A6, not even close. While it is not bad altogether, the Leo 1 is much more a 1960's system with all the limitations that come with that. Used wisely in combined warfare including armored infantry, artillery and hopefully air superiority, it might prove to be useful, but we are talking decades old war tactics including a lot of wear and tear.

See post 8106 - they are being serviced and have received a number of upgrades. Not suitable to go against MBTs but to be used as you described. They are nimble and lighter than the newer tanks thus can go where the big boys can't.
Not to mention 100+ of these will give Ukraine a big advantage in overall fire power. There are several other advantages that I don't have time to go and find right now.

My question would training & logistics pipelines. Will they provide enough combat punch to be worth what it takes to get them in place and ready to attack? But I also see that UKR is far from dumb about these things, my gut feeling is if they want them, they have figured out a way (or will, soon) to get good use out of them.

Time is of the essence too. Tank experts or so self called tank experts have different opinions about the quality. But Russian quality is not that good too.
And Germany has promised that the first Leopard 2 A6s will arrive in Ukraine at the end of March, the German Federal Ministry of Defense reports.
Together with the other armored vehicles Ukraine will welcome them with open hands.
The ship with 80 Bradleys is now in the UK.

Either that or there are some very careless smokers in Belgorod and a few other places. I can't find a link but a Ukrainian T141 missile crashed 150 km inside Russia recently. Looks like it was shot down heading for Moscow.

Having had a platoon of M60A3 tanks with the same 105mm cannon: definitely.
You aren’t going to be doing any Leeeroy Jenkins! moves but a platoon of tanks can provide a hell of a lot of aimed fire in a short time, then bound forward to another covered position.
The complaints the Ukrainians have about their Russian tank stock is one day of operations requires four days of repair and maintenance.

Will the M1 be much better? The reason the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs cited for not providing them initially was just that, too hard to keep US tanks running. I feared it was a rare bit of honesty from the military.

Planned sanctions include:
— stop any contracts on enriching or reprocessing nuclear fuel
— freeze new contracts on constructing nuclear power plants
— exclude Rosatom from global energy deals
— establish control on investments related to Rosatom
— exclude Rosatom from any international research agreements
— decrease dependence at existing plants, replacements by 🇫🇷 France and 🇺🇸 U.S.
