Having had a platoon of M60A3 tanks with the same 105mm cannon: definitely.

You aren’t going to be doing any Leeeroy Jenkins! moves but a platoon of tanks can provide a hell of a lot of aimed fire in a short time, then bound forward to another covered position.

The complaints the Ukrainians have about their Russian tank stock is one day of operations requires four days of repair and maintenance.
wow, and I thought riding expensive bikes in the rain was a lot of maintenance.

Sounds a bit optimistic to me.

Ramzan Kadyrov, a key ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, has begun rattling off threats about attacking Poland after Ukraine.
Kadyrov, the head of Chechnya, suggested Monday that Russia should “denazify and demilitarize” Poland next.
“What if, after the successful completion of the NMD, Russia begins to denazify and demilitarize the next country? After all, after Ukraine, Poland is on the map! I will not hide that I personally have such an intention,” Kadyrov said on Telegram. “I personally have such an intention, and I have repeatedly stated that the fight against Satanism should continue throughout Europe and, first of all, on the territory of Poland.”
Kadyrov warned Tuesday that the time has come for the West to fall to its knees before Russia, predicting that the so-called “special military operation” in Ukraine, would be over by the end of 2023.

“The special [military] operation will be over before the end of this year. European countries will admit they have been wrong, the West will fall to its knees, and, as usual, European countries will have to cooperate with the Russian Federation in all spheres,” Kadyrov said, according to TASS. “There should not and will never be an alternative to that.”

Much much more.

As long as there are no large tank battles with T72 and more modern ones, the Leo1A5 can be useful.

The losses of Russian tanks are so high, you wonder if they will manage to assemble enough modern tanks for a large battle at one place without that being noticed and hit with arty and Himars.

1000 Russian tanks are now visually confirmed to have been destroyed in Ukraine since February 24, 2022.
The total of Russian tank losses currently stand at 1688. Many captured to reach that number of 1688, but not in the best conditions.

Leopard1 tanks to arrive by summer, just as a lot of other stuff.
Almost forcing Russia to attack now for everything arrives.
They have at least 200K soldiers to throw into battle.

What a delay of some countries, it was obvious Ukr needed material ASAP. Big hint was mobilization. At least started to prep material...half a year lost.

"Notorious Russian army captain and mercenary Igor Mangushev has died in hospital, days after he was shot in the head at close range in occupied Ukraine, his friends have said.
Mangushev's wife Tatyana described his killing as an execution."

My question would training & logistics pipelines. Will they provide enough combat punch to be worth what it takes to get them in place and ready to attack? But I also see that UKR is far from dumb about these things, my gut feeling is if they want them, they have figured out a way (or will, soon) to get good use out of them.

This, as in training & logistics pipelines.

They do pack some serious punch but more importantly they were never designed as single serving items. The strategic planning always included having them operating at the corners of a somewhat protective shield of air support and heavy artillery, accompanied by all sorts of recon, infantry and close range anti tank support.

All of this might extend a tank's survival rate for a bit, but the main goal was to be able to retrieve a dead tank from the field, fix it and send it back in with a fresh crew and ammo.

Those training & logistics pipelines are what I fear are missing. It's not about a fixed number of tanks to be supplied, it's about keeping them running.

Zackly!
Whatever is the actual pointy tip of the spear works far far better if the rest of the spear is behind it!

I don't believe there is a single magic trick that is going to chase the Russian out, or eliminate them. It's going to take some damn tough fighting, I'm afraid, and I hate there will be a lot more death & destruction before we achieve peace.

Tiny Estonia (the size of NH & VT, with 1.4 million population, on the S bank of the Gulf Of Finland) has of necessity become expert at gathering intelligence on Russia. As an immediate bystander, Russia presents a clear danger to their freedom. This is their latest Foreign Intelligence Service report:

“….Putin is playing for time, believing that Ukraine and the West will wear out before Russia. Putin thinks he can “bomb” Ukraine to the negotiating table.

Internally, Russia has become Soviet Union 2.0, drawing inspiration from Stalinist repression, Khrushchevian sloganeering and Brezhnevian stagnation. Paradoxically, in Russia today, Putin’s regime is simultaneously the strongest and the weakest it has ever been….

Once again, we will also look at China. Under the leadership of Xi Jinping, who started his third term and secured absolute power, China is moving towards deepening authoritarianism and confrontation with the West. Russia plays an important role in China’s global ambitions, and the two countries agree on many points. Therefore, it would be a mistake to take Xi’s restrained support for Putin’s war in Ukraine as a sign that China is distancing itself from Russia.“
