Congrats to Biden.

He has united President Xi with Russia & soon India, the next global power will be onboard.

Can’t remember a time when the US were this much of a laughing stock on the world stage.

So, another new right wing nutjob for the ignore function, piss off arsehole!
Biden did not cause dictators like Xi to support Putin, it's in their job title.

Good read from Dan Rather and Eliot Kirschner.....

Lula's government doesn't want to understand the nature of the conflict in Ukraine?

The old international order is over, presenting Brazil with complex choices

William Waack - January 22, 2023

So far the Lula government does not seem to have understood the nature of the conflict in Ukraine. Or pretends not to understand.

It is not an armed action resulting from "a mistake", as the president describes the invasion launched by Putin. In essence, it is a relevant part of the contestation of the order that has prevailed since World War II.

The rapid rise of China to the role of a challenger to the "hegemon" (USA), in itself, would already be the great factor of contestation. It is what makes classic hyper-realists doubt that serious military conflict will NOT occur between the superpowers.

But both China and Russia have "accelerated" the process. Both see the West as a greatness in decline. Especially Putin has put together the old Russian imperialism of more than two centuries with his understanding of the "moral decay" of the Western countries.

The result is a profound transformation in which what seemed guaranteed - an international regime based on respect for rules and ever-increasing integration of trade and production chains, the so-called globalization - is receding in substance.

In this new context, multilateralism and global "governance" have become rhetorical figures, which the Brazilian government seems to embrace. Thus, it is difficult to imagine a South-South axis, as opposition to a "North", when one realizes that at least two members of the BRICS are on one side of the conflict, and not only in Ukraine.

The war in Ukraine is not an isolated episode, in the face of which we should just sit back, take advantage of the opportunities, try not to offend anyone and play the good guy by repeating useless platitudes about "peace" and offering to negotiate between belligerents - the path taken by Lula so far.

These are historical forces of immense amplitude at work, which lead countries like Brazil (a middle power of regional influence) not exactly to choose a "side". But rather, to choose a "world".

The war underway so far has belied the strategic calculations of China and Russia, which mainly assumed an incapacity for joint action and cohesion on the part of the adversary. The Ukraine battlefield has demonstrated not only the current Western technological superiority, which the Chinese autocracy is capable of overcoming. The fundamental lesson is that open societies ultimately change faster, adapt better (Germany has abandoned pacifism), and perform better in the relationship between civilian power and military operations.

This is explained by the values around which these societies developed and prospered. Brazil is part of the Western world.

“A typical consumer of Western and especially American media over the past year of war in Ukraine might be forgiven for assuming the so-called international community is fully in Washington and NATO’s corner. But a detailed tally of nations and where they stand shows otherwise….”

And why would some NATO allies purposely/wilfully destroy the vital energy infrastructure of another NATO allies’ Nation state?

Time to get a Russian’s perspective of the meat grinder-meddlings going on over there in Ukraine:

Trust me, this doesn’t end well for anybody if the WWIII escalations continue this next month or three.

Funny, author "Tyler Durden", my favourite movie : )

The next one is equally a joke.
Hersh’s report comes after Sergei Lavrov, the Russian foreign minister, alleged last week that the attack had been carried out by Washington in an attempt to ensure its global dominance. Moscow had previously accused the British Royal Navy of blowing up the pipelines but did not provide evidence.

Yeah, yeah; I grew up as a cold war baby and can remember when the Soviet Union was formidable. The Soviet Union and the Russian Federation share much of the same geography, but are two different nations. I'll only die once in any case.

I added the bold text. They were never as strong as we feared.

This is hyperbole. Russia is a spent force. I agree with supporting Ukraine, and am increasingly willing to give them sufficient support to regain their territory. This isn’t because I fear for Poland or Finland. It’s because of the world I want to live in. It’s time we tire of perpetual war, constantly killing each other to seize each other’s land. Europe had achieved this, leading the way to coexistence. We must make wars of conquest so costly and futile no other nation (China) considers them.

Between nukes and climate change, the evolving human civilization cannot survive WW III with all it would entail, Any countries remaining neutral would still lose the world wide web, lose access to space (Kessler Syndrome), and either bake with the rest of us in the great fires or freeze in the nuclear winter,
