How about Afghanistan 2021? Sure there were diplomatic negotiations prior, but the taliban rolling into Kabul forced the US out much sooner than agreed to and thus ended the war.

Did the VC and NVA troops overrunning Saigon not effectively ended the war in 1975?

Where there no negotiations and civil gov't determining in advance what the reaction was going to be? My understanding is that in both cases, the military was leaving. If left to a military decision on how to respond, the US forces -could- have escalated massively.
