Ukraine and Only Ukraine. If it isn't about Ukraine then fuck off

This is something I don't understand. Attack helicopters are useful to Ukraine, but A-10s would be way too vulnerable to Russian air defenses to be useful?!
Vulnerability does not equal uselessness.

There aren't a heck of a lot of A10s still active, a bird designed before MANPADs ruled the low altitude skys. Introducing them means needing all the infrastructure specific to that bird, talking mechanics and parts, mostly....and for just a handful of vulnerable birds. They already have the SU25 ground attack birds and can get more from lots of places, aside from going high there isn't a heck of a lot an A-10 can do that an SU25 can't....

However the Ukrainians have experience with the MH and people who know how to keep it flying.

Can't let this one slip.

Have a look at it, it's worth it.
Absolutely, and again FSB etc lying about their accomplishments to the upper echelon.

Interestingly Wikileaks does not touch it, the real freedom of information fighters do not like to publish anything related to Russia. The react very allergic to any mention of this. They block you in a second on twitter. Only anti US critic welcome.

Part 3 of the T trench battle, overnight Ukr left the trench, Russians occupied it.

Anyone want to see effective use of tanks in trench warfare must watch this video. Absolutely devastating work up close. Used BMP to allow two tanks to maneuver, one tank suppressed a flanking trench, and then one tank up the middle for the kill. Holy hell.

I believe the Russians were yelling please, no tanks.

This looks like the ground is very soft (really dark tracks from the treads).
Dumb Russians. When a tank is 25m pointing it's cannon at you maybe that white flag should be handy

There seemed to be a white flag being waved from behind a tree, but the tank shot it.

Not sure a tank can take prisoners. In any case, the defenders threw a hand grenade after narrowly missing with an anti-tank round or RPG.

Nah, they met fire with fire and met a soldiers’ death. Fucking brutal.

The Uke’s retreated from this trench line only to swarm and kill the occupiers? Perhaps they are using Bakhmut in the same way, tactically.

It would be really hard to take one guy's surrender with a trench full of his comrades still fighting.

why am I getting the impression that the 24/7 firehose of russkie propaganda is trying to condition the russian populace to the idea, then eventual implementation of, nuclear weapons?

what I'm saying is I wouldn't be surprised (but would be very shocked) if those dirty motherfuckers actually went there.

I get nuclear blackmail/saber rattling, but why can't I shake this hunch that feels significantly more sinister?
This is one of the very few times I think you’re actually right. Vlad is an asshole, but he isn’t stupid. He knows his invasion failed. He desperately wants the world to believe Russia is actually going to launch nukes.

My prediction is that ol’ Vlad will die a tragic death after falling out his basement window. The war will end. Ten years later, everyone will bitch about America causing the whole problem.

Where was Russian artillery?

The poor fuckers in that trench never stood a chance.

Very poor Russian tactics.
Russians don't do combined arms very well. Would you trust your side dropping danger close on you if you were Russian?

Those guys were dead when they were told to hold a trench with guns and grenades against armor with a plan and a birds eye view of the battleground.

Ease the sheet.

I was brought up to believe you never have a fixed position without air or artillery support.

History is filled with numerous examples of why.

All credit to the Ukrainians, but it's not like the Russians aren't helping...

The Ukrainians had a lot of arty support when they held that trench. They had that location dialed in, so taking it back was pretty much a foregone conclusion. They knew exactly what corridor to move down to shoot along the trench.

Take a closer look. At 7:04 a second round I had missed before impacts near the tank. At 8:23 the tank shoots straight up the trench and some white sheets starts flapping, but it's caught on the tree and blowing in the wind of the tank's blast. There's no person doing that in the instant after the round impacts.

A secondary (?) explosion goes off between the tank and the tree, and the tank moves in closer, firing again and again. A hand grenade is thrown and the tank finishes them off.

The Russians never tried to surrender. They fought to the end. Brave, but dead.

There were explosions in the next field, beyond where the knife vs gun fight was happening. I was wondering if that was Ukranian fire preventing other units from helping.

I'm surprised they used up a lot of precious ammo to do that job. But perhaps that was the only option. Once the Bradleys arrive the scenario will change a lot.
