Russia’s national-security advisor Patrushev on Moscow’s modest ambitions: “The U.S. is unaware of the fact that the leading role in Europe historically belongs to Russia. The Russian Empire in 19th century, USSR in 20th, and so it will be in the 21st.”

Such a nice message and distortion of history.
His army can not even get to Kyiv.

But a curtain US president candidate would agree.

would the red army have beaten the nazis if it wasn't for the usa and the british empire

obvious answer is yes but it would have taken longer
the cost in lives to either would have possibly tripled
which for the rushtards would have been a real problem

forums seem full of what ifs and whatabouts
just imagine the usa now if trump wasn't a cheap lying crook
or rushtardia if pootin had not been a cheap lying crook

common-ish cause of accidental deaths and a suicide method in those climes esp russia

drink .. get drunk .. fall asleep in the snow or outside without cover

die in their sleep of hypothermia

And people here stress about how to end their lives painlessly when terminally ill. The Russians have it sorted.

They're drinking themselves to death?
Russians have the largest male/female life expectancy difference in the world. Vodka is the main reason.

I get that (more or less).
that being said, it's my opinion organized religions should die a billion horrific deaths for what it imposes on this world. if I could snap my fingers right now...
FFY. Religion is the basis for most of the world’s intractable conflicts. Dictators #2.

The tactics the Russians have been using is very small squads as the Ukrainians (both sides, really) are reluctant to spend their artillery rounds on such. Sometimes they will run into things they can not handle but the risk is accepted. These tactics have been effective for them.

Shed the notion that war is safe for infantry. The low losses we took in our SMOs are an historical exception. In nearly all wars infantry dies like flies.

It's also due to a fairly basic US military doctrine... the guys who inventing "probing by fire"... don't send a man, send a bullet. Historically, we have had massively better logisitic support for our infantry in the field. Because that policy provides for very profitable business to private contractors.

as if that's not abundantly clear, eh.
I state my personal contempt here in a general sense, for all kinds of reasons, even ones that transcend the human world and impose upon the natural world.
I empathize with more than just a certain species of hairless monkee, see.
A thought to cheer you up:
This is actually 3 or 4 wars in one. If Russia gets soundly spanked here, the next war where they attack Poland, the one after that where they go after Latvia, the one after that where they go after Finland are all over before they start.
Even more important, the other big country that sees a neighbor ripe for the taking may decide that war is a really bad way to go about it. This war is being analyzed down to the millimeter by China, they may be having second thoughts that an "easy" invasion of Taiwan would be no such thing and victory would come at a very high cost.

Yes, and the attrition involved would leave China's military weakened - with an expansionist Russia just to the north.

Russia is already too weak to confront NATO directly. My preference is a weak and harmless Russia but not a failed state that loses its historically Chinese territories (treaties of Aigun and Peking, 1858 and 1860) as it disintegrates into nuclear fiefdoms. China is no doubt eager for the alternative, as a consolation prize for the delay in conquering Taiwan. China considers the treaties to be signed under duress, just because they were.

The US is in the odd position of not having lost territory, so we tend to ignore this hurt pride. I guess there is some tiny rock called Machias Seal Island that allows the diplomats a chance to argue over who pays for a lighthouse. Canada might feel some tiny angst over islands named after an ocean crossing trailer sailor. We gave the Philippines back to themselves on our terms, they weren’t grabbed by a rival.

I’ve come to think the best way to defang Russia without killing it is to do whatever is necessary for Ukraine to reclaim its territory quickly. It must be such a defeat Putin is forced to accept a long term cease fire (Korean style) instead of losing control if his coast and accepting counter fire on his own infrastructure, but not so severe he goes nuke to avoid losing his palace. Ukraine can’t endure the perpetual destruction of cities far from the front lines, but Putin can’t endure long term full mobilization and sanctions. The risk of nuclear war is from Putin losing everything, or future risk if we get a dozen more North Koreas.
