Buried in that is a very concise description of ground warfare with battles, pauses, follow on units, and reconstitution of depleted units who then can go back up and follow on through another group. I learned a bunch reading that.

As Russia still not have declared a war, mostly lightly trained conscripts were send to protect the border. While contract soldiers and volunteers were send to the front.
A real weak point in Rus defense.
Even if Russia now declares a war, they have not enough experienced man in reserve to fortify this area. So the generals are wondering what to do, pull experienced man from the fronts ? Let the raiders run amok and try to bomb them out of Russia ?

I learned a bunch reading that.

Current remarks of the Ukraine allies who have access to intel never bring up if Russia is doing the same, training man and material to create a reserve force to plug gaps in defense. They have defense in depth and reserves already in place, but limited in force.

Is the Kremlin on the path of overstretch and overstrain ? Not willing to take the risk of full mobilization ? Which will take a half year to produce anything of value on the battlefield.

One problem remains for Ukraine, Russia still has air control over occupied area's and can inflict heavy damage when Ukraine starts the offensive.
