The ultimate global blackmail…….
And Russia trying to convince countries in Africa and Asia it is all Ukraine's and the West fault.

Meanwhie it looks like G7 against BRICS. The BRICS statements out there are worthy to read. New world order ? Two mayor blocks again ?
Using monetary, food, refugees, weapons, culture etc to enhance their imperialism. Russia and China as main engines. India and Brasil eating from both plates at the moment.

NATO top in Madrid.

Russia firing a record number of missiles in one day, between 40 and 60, many from Belarus.
Russia transporting military stock from Belarus to Russia, from the ammo dump know to have arty shells. 100 train carriages full according Belarus sources.

Ukraine tactical retreat from Sverodonetsk and another bulge, but hitting more ammo dumps etc. HIMARS, Ceasar and SPG2000 in action.
And still firing Toschka misssiles.

So, mixed messages all around. As is normal in war. Will take months to see who has to upper hand.

BRICS makes no sense as an isolationist movement. All of the members fancy themselves as being net exporters.
If they want to find customers for their wares, members should be aware that they will be judged by the company they keep.

That has been true.

China is pretty much pure export and, because of their demographics, can't really change that - sorry, too late. Same issue with Russia. India is absolutely the wild card. They WERE setting themselves up to being an export based country but that has shifted and India at least has the potential to be a consumer country instead of exporter. Maybe one of the world's largest. The same basically applies to South Africa. Aids is now "largely" under control so the net potential-consumer base is back to increasing. The issue with India and China is that, between the two of them, there are way too many men with selective abortion (and uh..worse unfortunately) seeming to be the primary culprit. The good news that China discovered 10 million uncounted women has been offset by the fact that they also found about 5 million men and, more critically for this context, over counted kids in general by 10+%. No country has ever gotten as old as fast as China is about to experience.

BRICS isn't setting themselves up as isolationist - they're setting themselves up as an alternative.

Say you're Sudan and you're looking for stuff for your country. You need food, cars, medicine, farming equipment.. and you have $100,000 in hard currency. Where is that money going to go farther.. buying the finest in German engineering or a Chinese knockoff? If you're India and you need oil and .. oddly enough ... jewelry/semi-precious stones (that's 41% of their imports). And.. North of you is one of the worlds largest exporters of... both.

A primary lesson of diversity is to understand other people's needs and desires.

India has increased their Russian oil imports but then they're getting a deep discount, $30/barrel. It's still only 10%.

China exports stuff. But they import the vast amount of their energy and a large part of their food. They live only with the express written permission of the US Navy. They have a pipeline, Power of Siberia, which is fixed in size. It would be a shame if anything were to happen to it.

I think at the beginning of Russia's invasion, the BRICS and Israel and Saudi Arabia were feeling their oats. Not so much anymore.

Take a look at Russia's latest artillery piece that is their answer to the smart projectile technology that Ukraine has been using in the ground attacks.

Better maybe to discuss in a a specific thread.
A few years ago I would agree, but now...
Here a Russian view at BRICS published in China;

Thanks for the article. It looks like a completely logical 'next step' for what BRICS is trying to become as the west continues to de-colonialize. The question is can they - the BRICS countries - pull it off. To me, India is the key. Either the US steps up and satisfies their energy needs or Russia/Iran will. For the US to do that, we probably need to make nice with Venzuela again or embrace nuclear. Both seem like a stretch. I can see a Rus/Iranian/Indian arrangement where the Chinese are the ones ultimately left at the alter by 2030.

Russia is selling oil to India at considerably less than market rate. The world will not come to an end if the West ignores this.
If we undercut the Russians at $25/barrel rather than their $30, we are not guaranteed of anything in Ukraine.
Just ignore them. So India gets a good deal today. Big whoop.

Lots of Russian missile nastiness overnight, including attack on large Kiev apartment building w/casualties. There’s also reported a new red glow on the horizon off the coast of Odesa, NATO is keeping track of the Black Sea and southern Ukraine with more assets involved than I’ve seen yet. Finland and Lithuania have elevated their alert status. Putin is being a real dick ahead of the G7 & NATO meetings, what does he think is going to happen in response to his tantrums? Fucking bully needs a punch in the nose.

I think this is going to has become an issue far beyond just the sovereignty of the Ukraine and the killing going on there. This war is stopping 60% of the world's grain exports from getting to places in desperate need of food, like Africa and other uber poor places. It's also driving the world economy into the toilet. I think this has much further reaching implications for world stability and it's very likely if this continues for another year or so - that there could be some really serious domino effects as other parts of the world begin to implode under crushing inflation and food and energy insecurity. I could very easily see this sparking other numerous conflicts that could spiral out of control and drag the west either into a major humanitarian crisis and/or a large regional or worse conflict. World Wars have started over far less than this.

I think it's time to shit or get off the pot and have NATO eject russia from the UKR and tell them to knock this shit off. We need to call pooty's nuke bluff for what it is..... a bluff. It's all theater and smoke and mirrors and russia knows it.

Get this done before the world crumbles down around this mess.
