an s300 aimed at a missile about to be launched?
Ah, we have replaced the magic wand for destroying them, with telepathy to decide exactly when they are about to launch each one? (With a few minutes notice to give time to launch and get there)

They already have s-300s. Why aren't they using this AAW missile to destroy ground based launchers just as they are about to fire? See if you can work it out with your critical thinking

I have criticised some of the other suggestions on here for targeting russian air bases and missile launching points because they are impracticable, no-one has yet asked me for an alternative, but its only fair to offer one.

1) NATO to provide more AAW systems to defend cities. These will never be 100% effective and it may be that they have already saturation point (after which adding more makes no improvement or even worsens the defence). None of us have the information to make that assessment, but my gut feel is that we haven't and more could be done

2) Provide support in hitting the Kerch bridge to put it completely and permanently out of action. The JASSM missiles I mentioned would be ideal. UKR doesn't have any aircraft cleared to use them so that may be an issue. But I suspect something could be done with them, or something else

3) More anti-ship missiles and/or torpedos to hit landing ships that are being used to transport material (and would be even more essential if the bridge was knocked out). Even lightweight torpedos (such as the types dropped from aircraft for anti-submarine work) could probably be adopted to be launched from autonomous vehicles and hit landing ships. But there are existying unmanned vehicles with a torpedo launch capability

This follows the already successful theme of targeting logistics. If we can cut-off Crimea combined with a strike south to cut-off the rest of Kherson Oblast then the army there will collapse, and Ukr can concentrate its forces in the east and win there also

No the UN has to act as a police force and stop this criminal Poo tin.
Get rid of the veto I say and make the UN police force have teeth.
There isn't the slightest chance of the Security Council veto being removed. Not only would RUS prevent that, so would the USA, which has been pretty UN-sceptical over recent years. AFAIK the last quasi-military operation by the UN was in Bosnia and IMO pathetic, shambolic and failed would be suitable adjectives to apply.

^ Good post.

Let’s hope the missiles are not sustainable.. my worry is that it may go on to the point of irreparable devastation.
No time for pearl clutching, nothing is 'irreparable'. I recently heard an interview that indicated that the population of Hiroshima was higher in 1957 than it was when the bomb was dropped. Population is over one million now. Its headquarters for Mazda and a thriving city.

Thanks for giving some alternative. I hope someone with the power to do some of them has a friend who reads here. They launch so many you don't need to know when they launch?

Assuming you are talking about RU missile launches, they can be from mobile launchers, aircraft (well behind front line) or ships. So you need very up to date targeting data. Even satellite data is unlikely to be good enough

I had a conversation with Denys recently, he considered my offer for shelter at my home for him and/or his family for as long as he needed, he was very grateful. He has now found other accommodations, there being fewer 'refugee' complications for him in the EU.

Many posting here have suggested that the West should do more to help Ukraine.

I have a question?

How many have contacted their applicable government representatives urging them to do more?

I have contacted all three members of the US congress that represent me. Each time we get a new wave of Russian missiles with strikes on things like a maternity ward, I intend to push them again.

It may or may not help. However, I assure you that not contacting them will not improve anything. According to a popular saying, we know what happens when good men do nothing.

You and I have a new Senator who is from the pro-Putin wing of the GOP (Nick Budd, asshole... I don't have to call him Senator yet). He seems to be pro-military at least when in this neck of the woods, maybe he will agree to continue supporting UKR. Anyway, he seems to be listening impaired like many politicians these days but I've sent him a message too.

I voted against Budd in the primary. However, as soon as he moves into his Senate office, he will be representing me and will hear from me.

And from what I can tell, it is really both the far right and the far left that are unsupportive of Ukraine. Then again, there is not much I like from either of these groups on any topic.
