To think this is the third, if not the fourth time, Ukrainians have suffered like this by the same perpetrator.
But how does that help?

RU seems to be still pushing hard all along the front lines, especially in the Bakmut area. And now they are beginning to step up the shelling of Kherson, evacuations are underway.

Ukraine needs a lot more help than they are getting.

Someone that I follow who is in Ukraine said the last missile attacks were bad mainly hitting hospitals critical utilities were restored in the major cities within 24 hours. No military targets hit and a majority of the incoming ones destroyed in the air.
Yes, Kiev seems to have power running in much of the city again, except for during scheduled blackouts. The situation on the outskirts is much worse; it is worse in Karkiv too, reporters are struggling to get reports out from there. And UKR is expecting another wave of hits to the power supplies starting either Monday or Tuesday. It.............. Sucks!

That's something good but since the war has changed recently, the civilian toll must surely be the even bigger disaster. This has shifted to intentional Genocide and, I'm sorry but, there is absolutely zero real evidence they are 'running out of missiles' any time soon.

Way off topic, but trying to turn to some fun - The World Cup.

Why is RUS not in it, did they not qualify or not get invited?

I am very curious. Where do you get this information from?

More of a reminder to those attracted to appeasement. Russia won't stop even when driven back to their border. They might get a more benign leader in the fallout but the next . . .

I wonder if a hypothetical Republican administration in the USA veto would be open to that, given the financial and military burden would largely fall on the USA. There are others here with a better grasp of US politics than mine.

Turkey would also have a veto and to date, continues to block the membership of Sweden and Finland. Given that Erdoğan wishes to remain close to RUS as well as NATO, it is unclear why Turkey would support UKR's membership.

Possibly, though I think Hungary would be the more obvious stumbling block.

From US point of view there are a lot of advantages to UKr joining, and Turkey is selling arms to UKr and has quite clearly sided with them in a few cases.
As for Hungary, unless they get a new leader, they should be kicked out of EU and NATO imo

Looks like Hungary is playing footsie, too. They say they're going to vote in favor of membership for Finland and Sweden, then delay. And delay again.

So if fulfilment of UKRs war objectives are insufficient, what do you suggest?
My crystal ball is d'n pub yet again leaving me with straws, but if Ukraine can win the peace or even Zelenski able to avoid a Churchill, there's hope, especially with the Three Seas/Baltic alliance with the US and UK
