3 major attacks on Kyiv in the last three days. It looks like Russia is forcing Ukraine to keep AD in the cities to save civilian lives, making it more difficult to provide AD for the coming offensive.

I wish this was a level playing field and the Ukrainians could have equal opportunities to strike back. NATO will just have to send more Air defense systems and planes to knock the air launched missiles before they are launched?

I should think the time is coming when the bombers launching these missiles will get taken down. That will change the equation significantly.

I wish there was level playing field, war would not have happened.
Ukraine needs the same kind of missiles to hit airfields 1000's of km away to be on level playing field. Most missiles now are fired by bomber aircraft.

The Tupolev Tu-95's might not go the distance. Hard to maintain even on a good day and increasingly unreliable even before the war. Only two (maybe three) bases left capable of handling them and neither are in sensible flying distance.

They are firing the missiles over the Caspian sea towards Ukraine. Not sure with what air frame. You would think it would not be that hard to create a new runway on top of an older airfield, Russia must have enough of them.
Let's hope they all crash soon.

Am curious about who lobbed these little drones last night into Moscow and the business/political elitist suburb to the west. But whoever is doing it, I hope they continue to do so. The message the RU public must surely take from it is that this war in UKR could have real consequences for as long as it continues.

More importantly, I hope significant military targets start getting nailed harder - oil supplies, freight trains and railroads, missile launch sites, etc.

For me:
-hitting Russian military targets inside Russia is all good
-hitting relevant industrial targets is fine if some care is taken to minimize civilian loss (like hitting them at night)
-I do not support hitting apartment blocks or bombing coffee shops

So, I think these drones could have been better used against different targets.

I do not think 'bringing the war to the Russian people' is at all likely to result in a coup (against putin), but rather will probably strengthen his hand. The fact that Russia is hitting civilian targets in Ukraine does not make 'an eye for an eye' right.

Your ignorance is absurd.
You've said that the Moskva was important for parades and morale. Trouble is, that I already fucking stated it! What I am talking about is their ability to wage war in theatre.

So, lets look at what actual IN THEATRE functions Moskva performed:

1. Managed to lob missiles into Ukraine.
2. Assisted in taking and holding Snake Island.

So as I correctly stated, the sinking of Moskva did nothing to degrade Russian ability to lob missiles.

Whilst the loss of Moskva most likely contributed to the loss of Snake Island, what did that actually achieve for the Ukrainians?

Yes, it pushed the Russian ships a bit further away, but what did that achieve?
Did it allow Ukrainian war ships to operate there? Nope, they don't have any.
Did it allow the Ukrainian grain ships to operation there? Nope. Whilst the grain ships ARE operating there, the Russians could still deny them access VERY easily without the Moskva. They have chosen not to.

So in summary, and you may need to read this part carefully, the loss of the Moskva had little more impact on the Russians ability to wage war in theatre than if they lost one of their submarines.
Actually they have an unfinished Moskva class upriver... it's on Google Earth...

If those were actual drones from Ukraine they were affected by Putin spoofing the GPS signals in the area. On another forum a poster I follow who posts regular updates on Moscow and the surrounding area related his efforts to get a food delivery from a driver totally lost and confused. I would expect Ukraine to analyze this latest move and compensate.

That's my home town after WW2. There was no fighting. All damage is from bombing civilians. It did not get Hitler thrown out.

The latest I read was that the apartment building was hit by a air defense missile. Fog of war and misinformation makes that a "maybe".

My town I was born in after Germany bombed it in May 1940.
War crimes and crimes against humanity from day one of the invasion.
Half of my mothers family died.

It seems possible that every single inch of this weary globe has had victim's blood spilled on it. The last time my town had an enemy march in was 140 years ago, in the US Civil War.

So let me remind us all of some words from President Lincoln: "War itself is the enemy."

War is often a disastrous failure of leadership, who should have agreed long-term plans instead.

And speaking of that, it would be good if a bunch of 'leaders' began looking at what RU might look like after the UKR war. They did this ahead of time for both Japan and Germany and both worked out, over the long run.
