It ought to not be a surprise that there were Nazi sympathizers in the US gov't in the 1930s. Anti-Semitism was not as frowned upon then as it is now. Charles Lindberg, who had many admirable traits along with quite a few despicable ones, was an admirer of Hitler and a Nazi sympathizer, and a chief spokesperson for the America First! movement.

It’s not a surprise at all. Smedley Butler warned us of the Business Plot back then. Hell, Prescott Bush got dinged for violating the trading with the enemy act for doing business with Hitler’s financier, Fritz Thysenn. I posted an image of the Federal Register listing long ago. It the same class of people pushing it now.

After ww1 Einstein wrote a letter stating that business and religion being allowed to control media and schools would kill science and logical thought in the decision making of govts. Tried to find it but it’s in a book of his letters I have.

As the plot played out, not even Truman could stand in the way of Burton Wheeler, a mere senator. TWO Special Prosecutors were sent packing to protect certain interests.

I listened to the first one and a half

nicely put together

but soooo repetitive and too slow and lots of irrelevant details - about a gold tooth for instance

As an old journo I spent my time attempting to compress stories so that they fit on half a page - not drag them out as long as possible

The story can be compressed into three well written paragraphs

and she topped it with a dollop of thin as fuxck speculation (with drama music) about the plane crash that ended his life. I am not sure she has nailed the attempt to link it all to Trumpism

I shall listen to the rest.....I have the inside of the boat to paint but I find it quite annoying and slow and therefore ideal for cabin painting.
