There's no such thing as a stable dictatorship. Karl Popper was the expert on this. If Putin gets really bad news from a doctor tomorrow, nobody knows how his is successor is chosen or who that person would be. That would actually be kind of interesting if Xi's daughter succeeds him. I can throw some names out about who will be the Prime Minister of Canada, the same is impossible in Russia. So far, I have a perfect record predicting the head of state of Canada-if not the head of government. This is why one can make a very good utilitarian argument for constitutional monarchy.
