Some initial thoughts on ours, order #5053, received about 3 weeks ago, ordered at the end of October, 2021:

• Size of the screen is smaller than expected, but the read out is very clear and easy to see from the mast to our cockpit (J/80)
• Pinging the line (sighting down the line from the mast, with the bow offset configured) provides very accurate info (time to line [TTL] and distance to line[DTL]), and the additional line bias/line length data is pretty cool as well
• Having the pitch angle is awesome, just to have some objective measurement is nice
• Waiting on the LED issues to be worked out; as of now using them for shift tracking uses white and blue (not green and red) and the colors are different for each tack (e.g. blue represents a lift on starboard, but a header on port); it's still cool to see a visual cue since the arrows up (lift) or down (header) on the main screen are in fact a bit harder to see from the cockpit
• Using the Auto function on the Angle screen is pretty easy and gives an estimate of the wind direction and tacking angle, and of course determines your VMG for TTL; I've requested Vakaros consider adding a function on that screen (maybe in place of the "Back" button) so we could perform a wind shot (heading into the wind) in order to update the estimated wind direction; this would update the tacking angles and TTL functions automatically without the need to sail upwind again on both tacks to reset those angles

How do you connect to the calypso?
I have had no luck, it connects with the calypso app but no connection with the Atlas 2, maybe I am missing something?
Thanks

You need to close calypso app completely and then use Vakaros Connect app, add your Calypso there (same place where you added your A2 to your boat profile) Save changes and it should connect automatically (if Calypso is not already connected to some other device)

I have just been told of my 4th delivery slip and I am fuming.
Order #5102, delivered June 29 - took a lot of pestering support to get it shipped! I got it just before leaving for Hawaii on Pac Cup so I haven't had a chance to race with it yet. Plan to use it for a couple of beer cans this week, then a full race day this coming weekend.

100%, I would think most people will want AWA as +/- 180°. I sent the concept below to Vakaros...if you haven't already you should reach out too so they hear feedback from multiple customers.

I guess everyone has gotten their instrument. Looking to upgrade from the Race Geek (which i really did like).
Would love to see an honest review now you have had to chance to put it through its paces. What works? what doesnt?

Thanks in advance

I have been using an Atlas 2 for most of this summer season on an A Scow, C scow, and Melges 24. My take as it stands today:
1. Dramatically better than Atlas 1
2. The things that are included today work exceptionally well.
3. Before yesterday's race, I configured LEDs for lift/header and time to line. This was far more helpful than I expected.
4. Time to line works great in steady breeze. If there's a tick up or down in pressure, it gets a bit unreliable, but that's the nature of the stored boat speed. I thought I was good at starting, but I was lights out awesome with that feature enabled. In 4 starts, I won all 4 without being OCS.

I'm really looking forward to the future.

Quick follow up on the Atlas 2 / Vakaros: I updated the device with the most recent software and noticed that one of the features (backlight) wasn't an option in the App. I emailed asking for help and after a couple back and forths, the issue was resolved within a couple hours. The problem was something to do with my account settings on their end. Glad to see Vakaros improving their customer service experience. The device itself has so far worked flawlessly for me.

We had an issue with our Atlas 1. I was impressed and pleased with the Sales Support team at Vakaros.
We got ourselves an Atlas 2. It is brighter, crisper, and has a better battery. I like the wireless charging. We are still learning the new features of the new unit.

Atlas 2 v. Prostart: I know it's been discussed before. But now that the Atlas 2 is available and getting some use, can someone with experience with both products, recommend one or the other?

iPhone X screen is 6.5". I would imagine this would be pretty hard to see if it where mast mounted on anything bigger than 30'
We had one on board this season. they work really well. Very easy to read. we had it mounted on the bulkhead on a Corby 25. Helmsman could read it fine.. great for start sequence , distance to burn etc. batter life was great too. Good company to deal with if communication a little slow.

I have an E Scow and MC Scow and use the A2 on both. I used to run the Prostart as starting device on the E scow with a tactic compass on top. I found this to be a pretty good solution until I bought the Atlas. Major difference for me was the screen display, you could actually see it with or without polarized lenses. The other major difference was battery life, 100hrs they advertise. Used it at 5 day event and never charged it once. Vakaros also a customizable screen display where you can edit what features you want to see while racing, like DTL, HDG, SOG, Heel Angle. You can customize your screen to show the data you want. I think also from a price comparison standpoint, the A2 is worth the 200 bucks more than prostart. Just my opinion.

Few questions I'm hoping someone can help:

1. I'm using mine on an MC Scow (singlehanded) and the display is just a wee bit too far forward to quickly and easily get to the timer buttons. Is there any option existing or planned for some sort of remote control? Like maybe an Apple Watch app?
2. Anybody using theirs with the optional masthead wind sensor? I'm thinking about getting one to use for practicing to help build better feel for AWAs related to boat speed.
3. What app/service are people using to upload tracks and data for post-race analysis?
4. Is there a better user group or discussion forum for these sorts of topics?
