Dude I’m serious about this shit, hillbillies HATE being associated as rednecks. I come from a long line of hillbillies (western NC backwoods), rednecks are fuckheads.

Easily confused but quite different.
Is there some kind of identifying characteristic that can be used to easily discern a hillbilly from a redneck? I don't want to getting my head blown off should I ever decide to travel to the great state of North Carolina and interact with the indigenous peoples.

NC sheriff rules out right-wing activist as suspect in power outage after praying with her
By Travis Gettys

Published December 05, 2022

A right-wing activist was investigated over a cryptic social media post claiming to know about the cause of a mass power outage in central North Carolina.

Emily Grace Rainey, a former U.S. Army psychological operations officer, posted about the outages that left nearly 40,000 customers without power, but Moore County sheriff Ronnie Fields told WRAL-TV that he prayed with her and determined her claims were not credible.

"Yes, we had to go and interview this young lady and have a word of prayer with her, but it turned out to be nothing," Fields said.

The object of their anger was the drag show.
You know that how? Just asking because I hadn’t seen a motive yet. Just last week it was assumed that the guy that shot up the gay bar was a RWNJ Same for the Walmart shooting in VA. Both stories quickly faded away once the identities of the killers became known. Amazing how that happens.

Hillbillies keep to themselves, proud, generally polite, honest and respectful and may interact with strangers a bit if treated politely & with respect but don’t want anyone poking into their business. If kin stray off and start behaving rednecky they’re shunned and told to take it elsewhere, draws too much attention (especially from the law) and embarrassment. Pretty rare to find a hillbilly involved with drugs; homemade local likker and cheap beer are their go-to’s. Had a cousin pass from a heroin OD a few weeks ago, she’d moved east to Mooresville and gotten involved with rednecks the last several years.

Rednecks are assholes and the opposite of all things above.

After 9-11 a huge amount of energy was devoted to worrying about soft targets vulnerable to Middle Eastern extremists. Yet it appears, as always, our worst enemy is ourselves.

They are only investigating at this point and are pointed in that direction because the outage happened at the same time the show was to start.
