Vandalism or Domestic Terrorism?

I'm repeating what the BBC reported. I still hope it is domestic terrorism with multiple hate crimes.

While a suspect has not been identified and the motive in unclear, Sheriff Fields addressed social media rumours that the vandalism was an attempt to stop a drag show from taking place.
"[Investigators] have not been able to tie anything back to the drag show," he said. The event had been scheduled for 19:00 on Saturday, which is around the same time the power went out. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-63829130
The drag show in NC was "Drag Divas", not "Drag Queen Story Hour".

The latter is an event held to read to kids.

For the former, the Proud Boys, and other domestic terrorists, have shown up to intimidate in a few locations, of late. The stories sorta got jumbled.

1. I was wrong about storytime. I apologize for the error.
2. It was adult-only, but there was never any explicit activity.
3. Proud Boys were at three other drag shows in South Carolina
Proud Boys have made themselves visible at three drag or LGBTQ+ events in North Carolina: one in Wilmington, one in Sanford and one in Raleigh.
Apology accepted. I’m assuming you were thinking of the hero at the Colorado Shooting. It is sad that this crap is non ending. I have no problem throwing the harshest charges at whoever caused this.

What hero was at the 18 and over show with his family? And what did they do to be a hero. Light the candles?

The Downtown Divas drag show, which was scheduled for 7 p.m. but did not begin until 7:40 p.m., was scheduled as a fundraiser for Sandhills Pride, the local nonprofit supporting the LGBTQ community. The show originally allowed for children and teenagers to attend, but following angry protests online, the Sunrise and Sandhills Pride announced that only individuals aged 18 and older would be admitted.

Yea, It's hard to keep all the hate in order.

I hate to point out the obvious but protesting does not automatically translate into Domestic terrorism or hate crimes. In America people have the right to express their ignorance with peaceful protest. When it involves religion the constitution is pretty clear.

True, The incident involved guns, so I concede it may have been locals who will spend many years in prison if caught, and many more if it involved hate.

Fear not. Chief Wiggum is on the case.

Is he going to confer with Boss Hog before having another prayer session with the blonde?

what are the chances that the private companies that own these substations are going to harden their defenses to these types of threats, to our power grid?

Well, now we at least know the motive. It's them damn cross dressers.

When asked if the attack on the power grid was in response to a highly contested drag show in Southern Pines on Saturday night, Fields said they had yet to find any connection to the show.
What is it with these people that they destroy things that help everyone just to make a point? It's like trying to destroy the Constitution in order to save democracy. They don't think much past the tip of their nose.

We were warned about this 3 years ago, and probably before that, but it appears that no action was taken??

I worked for the regional electric/water/sewer utility for 31 years. We would have biannual "classes" on physical and cyber security. Substations, just from the nature of their location, are very vulnerable. They are not "manned". It would be so easy for a coordinated effort to wreck absolute chaos on the distribution power grid. We, and I am guessing most utilities, went to limited emergency equipment reserves and did not keep substation type transformers in stock. For some of the older sections of our system, the substation transformers would have to be custom made. It would take a long time to recover from a coordinated, but very simple attack.

The big worry was always a cyber security breech.
